Same amount of time as the SEs…love their product but this has to stop…my clients would flip their shit if I kept pushing forward on the promised delivery date…an f’n contract is a contract…if you can’t adhere to it… don’t f’n sign it

About to enjoy this from London IMAX. From my limited experience this might be the best audio environment I ever had. Body shaking bass like I never felt before, smooth mids and treble shining through. Don’t think I’d ever change a thing about it and thats why I keep coming back to it.

Have a good one wherever you are

It’s Friday…let it alllll goooooo

As I mentioned - a whole multitude of factors are at play, including how much the manufacturer cares. Big 1DDs that are comfy are certainly possible - just more work.

Man … comfort and fit. They’re both ongoing issue for me and they’re one of the main reasons i have for selling/getting new gear. And i generally agree - the ie series is superb in terms of comfort. Big drivers and comfort don’t necessarily have to clash tho. For me the S12 and S15 are examples for very comfortable shells with big drivers (planar tho) in em - smaller nozzle diameters and iem bodies definitely help a lot for me. Reduced shell thickness too, and that’s where i guess the issues with bigger DDs come in, eh?

One disadvantage metal has is that resin doesn’t/has much less is that metal shells are more prone to condensation issues, so these days i’ll just default to skipping most metal shells outright.

I have one fun example that goes in the other direction too: the kiwi ears cadenza is much smaller than the quintet, but the latter is - i think due to the nozzle - more comfortable than the cadenza. That one was definitely a suprise

Already have both the EX800ST and the EX1000. Best iem out there. (after heavy PEQ.)

I had the 1000s but most of the coating on the magnesium shells started flaking off…that’s totally unlike Sony to have such a issue with something they release…and I’m anal with my monitors so it wasn’t an abuse issue

RIP, but well, you arent missing much if you modded the EX800st. Remove the foam and “metal discs” inside the nozzle, 800st ended up sounding better than the 1000 to me after that. (my 1000 is still unmodded though, so I guess it should be the better one after its been modded the same.)

I was going to remove the nozzle ‘sphincter’ but I wanted them to remain stock…for posterity…cables had to go though

Just watched your vid Chris…I have to agree on multiple points…but the one I’m referring to is the one on diminishing returns…inexpensive IEMs are a waste of money…especially the further you get into the hobby

and at the other end of the spectrum… the amount of return on your investment in terms of sound quality…does not equate to the amount of expenditure…if you were to graph it…it would resemble sort of an aggressive pinna into the treble (sorry about the analogy)

I could afford ‘the Bird’…but I wouldn’t see a significant return on my investment… so I cap my fun at 1300 to 1500…but… I have gone up as high as the EVO and uh NO…NO…NO…so that was dropped down a mine shaft

but everyone has different margins to play between…my suggestion is to save up and get something you’ll be satisfied with before the next thing comes along

I’m a hypocrite about needlessly laying out money but…do as I say…not as I do

the Unknown DJ will shock people with today’s selection…polarizing…you go Mike

I am not surprised, but I am betting many fans of rock would agree. I listened the EA1000, and it was too spicy in the treble for my library ( lots of classic rock, Zeppelin & Rush are my favorites ).

I’m in the middle of Covid so cannot listen and review
Decided to do the vid and the1st one was a spectacle.
I was talking to viewers like they were 4 years old and pointing out obviuos examples of
“Dump and Dash”
Buncha stuff about how business actually works
Not how folks suppose it works.
Had to delete and redo.

In the vid you posted I got a commenter saying it’s a hobby like the wine industry which he was in…still is via wife.
