Bad Guy Good Audio Rankings and stuff (under construction) (Part 2)

Ever had an iem issue

Nope. Someone had an olina short off condensation though

Ever had an iem blow out at all?

Also to clarify are you talking about a driver dying or driver sounding like a busted speaker from too much bass or something.

Love the up too! My only gripe with up and especially tea 2 is I’m sensative to upper mids.

@hawaiibadboy I would like to read your opinion Xenns Up vs Xenns Top.

I can write some thoughts when time allows but the clincher is the UP treb. Great bass but not so much as to smear or bloom in mids. Many bassheads have been bummed by them expecting basshead stuffs. nah not there. treb is star cuz it steps behind the bass and makes mids seem a tad up. upper mid cut makes long listening a joy and forget you got em on.

The TOP is really good and will get a vid but the UP is one of my faves

It was described as a driver shorting iirc? weeep sound and dead. Hve not ripped up IEM drivers but did rip up several headphones. Sonds like a maraca shaker whenever a low note hits

Love seeing the UP getting some love. She still sits high up in my kingdom of IEMs. I had the Resin KL for a bit, in the end it didn’t get much use and the UP and other sets won over it. Glad to see you are enjoying both.

They said flagship.

And they meant flagship

Do you still listen to xe6?

I was wondering if that’s an iem you love for bass especially bassheads but can’t rank it high for everybody because it’s too colored and only for bass heads?

Also when you’re like f the mids i need slamming mid bass what iem do you turn to?

No. That kinetic bass was a gimmick that did not work at all and using that in marketing hooked me in.
If it had vibed my ear a bit i mighta put up with the super boosted mid bass but it didn’t do that kinetic / tactile thing at all.
I know kinetic and Tactile have different definitions but the implication in ads ( YT promo) was clear.

QKZ HBB Khan Impressions:

Happy Sunday guys!

Without further adieu, let’s start off with the Pros - who are the Khans for? Well, if your library is primarily Pop/J-POP/K-POP/Female Vocals, then these sound great on them :+1: The sub-bass - although not as extended and deep as a real speaker - still slams very nicely with lot’s of rumble and texture, and no bleed at all. It really does give off a sub-woofer like experience. Female vocals sound further back than I’d like, but still beautiful regardless. Layering is solid, along with accurate and fast imaging - detail and resolution is around the Starfields/Aria level. Staging is airy and has great depth and height, although not as wide and 3D like.

I also A/B these with the Zero and Quarks DSP - all three have a very similar harman tuning, with the exception that the Khan is more recessed in the mids and vocals, leading to less sibilance and better scaling than the Zeros, but at the cost of mid-range “correctness”. Both the Khan and Zero are more “uneven” in the uppermid/treble, and worse overall dynamics and not as smooth sounding compared to the DSP.

Now, they still do layering and staging better than the DSP, and more bass detail for sure, however, I don’t think they’re the correct fit for hiphop and rock. For example, I’ve been listening to the song Walkin by Denzel Curry for the past week in my car, and when I switched over to the Khan and Zeros I was genuinely confused. Snares, kickdrums and mid-bass sounded light and “flat”, but also has instances of sharpness from other sounds. Both the Khan and the Zero didn’t reproduce the original “soul” of the song, and the contrast between Denzel’s “tired” rapping and the booming sub-bass was a very weird experience. On the other hand, although the DSP also had issues with mid-bass forwardness/impact, it sounded smoother and not as much in the uppermids/treble, which is why I prefer it, but more in my full review here:

Overall, I think the Khan is still a very solid set if your library allows. The sub-bass got me feeling some sort of way in certain songs :eyes:

Also, KAI is adorable

I put a 500 level filter on the TinHiFi C3 and love how it just cuts out a tiny bit of glare off the top end and just smooths out the whole sound signature.

C$ 4.16 35%OFF | 20pcs Earphones Dustproof Mesh Filter In Ear Earphones Tuning Damper Mesh with adhesive 3mm-5mm

Edit: 350 level 500 was too much this one’s just like mama bears porrage.
My problem Is now I compare every IEM to the liquid smoothness of the UP and it’s hard to beat for me.
