Bad Guy Good Audio Reviews (A Million views?) Part 3/4

well well, lucky you! Those do look immaculate

Hiby clearly has the technical chops, but a more intentional, well-communicated tuning philosophy could really push them into the spotlight. Transparency and a clear goal go a long way…too many brands just throw things out there without a real vision.

Yeah, I’m hoping they make a few sets that are balanced or bassy. Some kinda clear audience grabbing. The driver sounds good.

What an interesting graph.

Looks super balanced with a bit of spice up top. Maybe the vocals would be a little recessed?

If they’re good for Kendrick, they’re good for me lol

Treble and bass shelf are a bit different but this reminds me of the Plunge Audio Unity (which is designed with monitoring in mind):

…what??? wtf???

The sound, that is the vibrations in the air is created by the diaphragm. You need 2 of them to have one that pushes and the other pulls at the same time. Saying push/pull setup with a SINGLE driver is like saying im looking left and right at the same time with ONE eye ball.

The ONLY thing that may be “push/pull” would be the magnets but that is NOT what “push/pull setups” refers to and is just preying on unknowing consumers that go crazy on hearing a buzzword. Exactly like those “Electrostatics” from Sonion which are based on electrets.

Yes you are right that planars typically either have a magnet on one side or on both. With everything the same, having an extra magnet on the other side should make it a tighter/faster characteristics just as a stronger magnet on a regular DD does (and why tweeters usually go with neodymium magnets which are much stronger than ferrite types used in woofers for speakers).

Latest when it comes to planar variation at least in the iem world would be that most have a voice coil on one side while some have it on both (Example would be the Letshuoer S08). I admit I dont really know why though, besides the vc potentially being more durable/resistant to heat now that the energy/heat should be split up between both sides but this shouldnt even be a worry unless you are using defeaning loud volumes…

Looks like they’ve been at it for a while

Hey @hawaiibadboy. The tigerism guys want to know if you would do a review for their Dragonfly IEM which is 16BA per side. I love the IEM a lot and think it would be worth your time and you might enjoy it. If so, just let me know here. I’ll relay the info quick.

I got that $16 ND Planet. Those are a crazy good value. This is what the BL03 was like in 2020.

Sure, that’s the guy that had the dope driver way back right?
Yeah, thanks for asking. I’ll do an unbox and full vid.

$17 …expected plastic ass. Totally surprised. Can’t have enough good affordable options. Keep em comin Chifi

Looks like no BTS with Kendrick because they didn’t know he was for sure using them till they saw the show. Very cool. Might grab a pair and totally mark out

Probably the only good session I’ll get this week with my current work schedule. I’ll have to make it up at the weekend :facepunch:

Tuning looks dope, too! Looking forward to seeing what you have to say about these. Specifically against the Valhalla, they’re about the same price IIRC.
