So…
Ancestry dot com is based in Ireland
My literal Unique Genetic code is stuck in customs.
The customer service is 10am to 12:30pm
International customs office with a 2.5 hour window 4 days a week…
C’mon…what?
Sounds like the government alright. Probably the only time-slot the leprechauns are available for work (joking aside: that’s just awful, especially if that’s GMT and you need to call them from JST).
DNA not getting stuck in Osaka Japan (not a common item) but is stuck in Ireland…the home of the corporation and likely hundreds or thousands of these samples going thru daily…my DNA is stuck there?
The 2.5 hour customer inquiry period is just an extra rub.
I’m not mad. Kinda baffled by this whole thing.
Japanese post office and staff sending an American’s DNA to Ireland… (They had to call Osaka just to see if it was legal to ship…so many questions) They earned their money that day.
Said it will depart Japan but cannot promise Ireland will accept.
Nah…that’s where it is supposed to go so no worry…
Know we know where you get it from …
Chances are that he wont thank you for making him go until much later.
My parents did something similar to me. I am a fairly shy person and generally hold no love for other human beings. But my parents forced me to join a Jiu-Jutsu club and something called ‘Chiro’ (similar to scouts). I didn’t like it at first, but both those places taught me incredible valuable skills. Things like standing up for yourself, leadership, survival, empathy and the most valuable skill of all: ‘Don’t be a whiny bitch, suck it up and do what needs to be done’.
Because of that I ended up mingling with almost all local youth, sports- and cultural clubs. I ended up being the ‘ask that guy, he’s reliable’-guy. Probably around 70% of all parties, festivals etc during the late 90’s and early 2000’s in our area had my name listed as part of the organizers. Even though they were mostly small events of max 5000 ppl.
All because my parents once forced me to crawl out of my shell. It took me 25 years to realize how important that one decision was to setting me on the right path.
Like I said at the start, Kai wont thank you for sending him to school and wrestling class yet. But one day he’ll realize that it was the right thing to do and that it helped him deal with challenges that will cross his path.
Such a good point.
I wish my dad forced me to keep playing baseball, get braces, get a surgery for my ears, invest more in school, focus on college options instead of moving out with my then girlfriend now wife… the list goes on and on. My dad just loved me too much and didn’t want to force me to do anything but sometimes, most of the time really, you know better as a Dad and tough love is the best love.
I understand that now as a Dad. It’s all about sacrifices but Kai will appreciate more as he gets older.
Tell the dudes in India swarming you that the Tea Pro is off the table.
I’ll send something else.
That decision is final.
This kinda stuff kills the joy of giving stuff away.
I don’t need daily multiple contacts after stating clearly a person won.
Been doing for years, have sent 10’s of thousands of dollars worth of gears and paid to ship it all.
90% of the time this goes fine.
No more DM’s please and the discussion is dead. I’ll send a mail when I pick an item and confirm shipping.
Another day another battle to get him to actually go to school
Him saying this like it’s some kind of suprise
Those two super egos (Trump+Musk) were bound to pop off sooner or later, time to enjoy the fireworks.
Excalibur re-release or updated version?

Clairvoyance mk2 or monarch mk4
Ooof, that’s honestly wild. You’d think Ireland being the HQ and probably handling tons of these daily would be the last place for a hold-up. Meanwhile, Japan’s over here treating it like a diplomatic package, making phone calls and checking legality like it’s a Cold War asset. Hopefully it’s just a bureaucratic hiccup and not your DNA taking an extended holiday in customs limbo.
Spot on! I had gone through the same cycle with my parents. For kids it will seem that their entire time of their life is being dedicated to that and they might even start to resent it for a while until they gain a few more years of perspective then they will be very appreciative of it.
