Best audio purchase of the year? - 2020 Edition

Man those look great! I ordered 9 GIK acoustic panels. ETA Jan though. I imagine it will be a huge improvement.

Oh, cool! I have four of the narrow GIK panels on the side walls (first reflection points). What pattern did you get? Mine are Digiwave V but Iā€™m thinking of swapping some of them to a more open pattern like Palomar. Iā€™ll also be ordering 4 bass traps once I settle on which pattern I want.

Oh, cool. Iā€™m was afraid those panels would get attacked by my cats even though Iā€™m sure they work better. I have the Impression 2" panels:

Purchased? Iā€™m not sure yet. This year I have this list.

jds labs atom/dac stack
takstar pro82
grado sr80e headphones detachable cable mod
sennheiser hd 660s

Now, I say Iā€™m not sure yet because I have tow other things Iā€™ve purchased.
airist r2r dac and the thx aaa one linear amplifier.

So I canā€™t say for sure yet but as of right at this moment, the hd660s are great.

Definitely the WM1A (The renaming to DMP-Z1 is part of a firmware mod). Since I received it, I donā€™t use my desk setup as often. I donā€™t have to worry about any future IEMs being limited by my source. It helped me to realise that I prefer IEMs most of the time. It keeps whispering something about the IER-Z1R thoughā€¦

I love my ZX300. It has been the center piece of my desktop system for two and a half years.

The Sony XM4ā€™s for me as my first Bluetooth headphone. I find myself using them a lot despite having a decent dac/amp setup (topping E30 into a JDS Labs Atom). And their having LDAC is a huge plus. They may not sound as good as some of my other gear (argons, kph30i with the g cush pads, cd900st), but the convenience of not having to deal with a wire is pretty nice (especially when I walk away from my desk).

I have been considering buying another headphone before the end of the year. One option being the 1more triple driver headphone, and the other being the t20rp. I may just end up getting both because Iā€™m curios (or I may skip the t20rp and wait until the t60rp argon comes available again). Anyways, yeah a Bluetooth headphone lol. But I also modded a set of kph-30iā€™s with the g cush pads, bought a set of Sony cd900st headphones (which I use to monitor my voice/make mic adjustments and listen to some good olā€™ city pop lol), and I got a set of cooler master mh-751ā€™s, but now my wife has taken them for herself because they are so gosh darn comfy lol (and so she can have a mic to use for zoom and such). Anyways, I usually tend to use the xm4 now for casual listening/background music, and my Argons whenever I really want to hear my music and just get lost in it.

edit: Oh, and a second SVS PB1000 subwoofer for my home theater setup lol.

Headphones: Focal Elegia.
IEM: Meze Rai Solo.

I have a limited edition ZMF coming next year which was bought in 2020 so itā€™s on the fence if it can be included.

I really need to hype this thing, it works so well in 2 of my systems that are laptop based, best purchase of the year for me as far as value goes.

Thereā€™s a lot of improvement to be found with a good reclocker. Funny thing is you just donā€™t know until you try it.

Yeah and next step beyond this unit is 10X the costā€¦ackkā€¦

Denafrips makes three flavors as well. Would love to try a higher end one but for now, Iā€™m happy just moving out of the noisy PC.
