Beyerdynamic dt 770 250 ohm

Also it seems a lot of people prefer the 80 Ohm version

May I ask what difference there may be

250 ohm slightly more refined more treble not as emphasized bass. 80 ohm more bass less treble little grainier to my ear. both are well detailed though due to the treble of the 250 ohm I would say it has more too it overall. Mids are recessed on both

Will confirm this also applies on the 600ohm version I recently picked up

600 ohm DT 770s?

On the used market you can find them but they have been discontinued

I have both the 80 and 250 for sell in the buy sell thread if anyone is still interested

so i just discovered that aparently these headphones SPL are actually VERY power hungry and thus even a 2 volt amp wont work… thus i dunno if they can run on a hipdac

They will. Any amp now a days will get these plenty loud enough and unlike a planar driver they aren’t picky with specifically HOW that power is delivered.

but calculators say it needs like 2.3V for fairly loud and tbe SPL of 96DB means that those calculators get confused… also just have to think of whether to do the 250 or a safer 80 ohm with less painful highs

I have the 250ohm and used them on a topping nx4 (295mW into 32ohm) for a year or so. It’s sounded just as good as it does on my xd-05 (500mW into 32ohm). While extra power helps in some casses, it is not literally a requirement. The hip dac is more than enough for most headphones under $1000.

Also fyi, I’m probably going to recommend you try the Grado SR80e, I just need to find which pads are the best option for comfort and sound. I’ll be writing up a full review in the SR60e/SR80e thread in a few days.

We can discuss that in a DM later but I might have to see if they’re better than the more expensive sennheiser 58X for me
