đŸ”¶ Beyerdynamic DT1990

Aren’t these usually around $600? Because they have been around $450 on amazon and ebay for few days

That’s about normal price for these atm

I bought the DT 1990 Pro a few months ago and paired it with the JDS Labs AMP and EL DAC - sounds great! Must say that when I first listened to the DT’s the treble was quite high, but after the ‘burn in’ period (thought that was a load of bs, but actually it’s true) that disappeared. Anything sounds great through these cans. They’re also great for FPS games e.g. CoD.

Well that’s great, hope you enjoy them :+1:

Some headphones do have a noticeable burn in period, both with the actual driver itself and within your head lol

the Dekoni Elite Velour Pads arrived - after chilling over 3 weeks at customs in Frankfurt
the fun was now 49 for the pads + 25 int. shipping + 15€ taxes

they better be good! - canÂŽt wait to try these later after office

the last chance would be my planned OTL Tube build

Heres the testing we did.

based on your measurements, the fenestrated sheepskin pads would have tamed the peak in the highs even a bit more - tested the elite velour yesterday and am not sure about how I like yet

will compare a 1990 with analytical pads vs mine with the elite velour in future at a shop

mounting the dekoni pads was not as easy as I thought, but it is done in a few minutes
comfort is top, while clamping force was a bit higher due to the thicker pads of course

The DT 1990 is not the easiest headphone to mount pads to is a general statement.

I found the Elite Fenestrated Sheepskin pads to be my favorite followed by the Elite Hybrid pads.

You’re a lifesaver for posting about that notch

What’s the general consensus on which pad tones down the treble the most and maybe keeps the soundstage wide and keeps (or boosts) the bass

Did you check out our graphs? I got them posted above.

Anybody on here get to try out the choice suede or pleather pads?

Has anyone tried the DT 1990 with the Audio-GD’s R2R 11 Amp/DAc combo? I’ve seen people multiple times telling how much they like theirs paired with the Amiron Home, but I never saw anyone commenting about it with the 1990s. Anyone got experience with it?

It might be pretty good imo, it would be a warmer sound that might make the 1990s less aggressive

Yes, i was thinking the same thing, I’m just wondering if it would de-nature the DT 1990’s exceptional details and clarity since the dac/amp is supposed to have some distortion. Maybe it would keep most of the details and just smooth it around the edges, making it less agressive and more musical. That would be the ideal scenario but I have not seen any feedback ever about it. So there is no way to tell just how well it works together.

I would say it would work together fine imo. I think it would smooth things over as you say. It’s not going to ruin the headphone or anything like that. Worst case scenario, you just get a jds labs atom and run it from the dac out

Have anyone bought this model? there is a special dt1990 edition with grey velour pads. Seems to be 6ave exclusive.
Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082DKMQ3J/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=ALAQLAKJ574UN&psc=1

It just looks like they took 770 or 880 pads and slapped them on the 1990. I don’t think anything else is different. Just a little sketchy since the other pictures are shopped to match pad color

Yo M0N since you own like every headphone under the sun would you mind telling me a bit about the 1990’s if you have the time. I know I said I gave up on them cuz of the recessed mids, but there is more to a headphone than just mids.

Sorry if I bother you asking for headphone descriptions all day
I wanna know if I should reconsider them  along with the Elex and the Edition XX
