@Falenkor Yes, I am wary of the Elex for QC issues they have had. Thank you so much for your follow up responses regarding possibilities for the future. I do currently have quite satisfying and varied times with my modest setup of e30>Asgard>Sundara or 880. The Loki seems like a logical, affordable addition for now. Again thanks both to you, @M0N and others on the forum who have provided me with guidance based on your more extensive gear experience.
Man, I seem to be at a trident road to upgrade my Yamaha HPH-MT5s. My two choices used to be the Dekoni Blues & the EMU Teaks, but the DT700 Pro X got me interested too.
My curiosity is piqued, because all three seem to be warm(?) headphones, and all three don’t use a dynamic driver.
Edit: I realize calling the DT 700 Pro X “warm” might not be the most appropriate. However, I am sincerely interested in the headphones, because the treble was retuned, and I’m for headphones with tame treble. Hence, that is why I assume the DT 700 Pro X to be warm.
After having them in for more than a week, I can say that the DT 700 Pro X are keepers for me. Really good set of cans and I‘d go as far as call them a solid no-nonsense product, both for monitoring and music enjoyment. Swappable Earpads, Swappable Headbands, Swappable cable, good build quality and socketed, easily replaceable drivers, they are designed to last and be repairable.
I‘m honestly a bit proud of Beyer. Well done.
I was looking to buy a dt1770 or dt177x. I had them before. They were good but I always ended up using open back. I want to try the dt700 now. You know for sound isolation, more subbass, not because I am doomed in this rabbit hole…
Does anyone find the sound signature of the dt900 pro x closer to the dt1990?
It have been a long time since I had the dt1990. From memory the dt900 sounds close to the dt1990 with the B-pads. The dt900 sounds less v shape, and share the same studio forward detail.
Disclaimer, I have used the dt900 only with the bf2+RNHP. Which might be why it sound forward and tight. Also, when I had the dt1990 my setup was modius+ A3 and thx789
I think it sounds this way regardless of a given setup in general. Yea… it’s been a while since I had the DT 1990 as well. So I am not sure…
It is very similar and has a similar level of quality of sound but 1990 has noticeably more stage, much more aggression, definitely brighter. If anything I’d say 900 is a dialed back 1990 which I personally love. Still not replacing my t1. That’s my first headphone love at this point lmao
I will like to get a dt1990 again. the dt1990 was great for metal, the aggressiveness was very welcome.
My hands are itching to grab my t1.2nd. I haven’t used it for 4 weeks now (3 weeks using the hd800s and 1 with dt900)
This headphone is tempting for me, I always wanted to dip into a Beyerdynamic, but the entry level models all have attached cables which to me is a deal breaker and the scale till you got a detachable cable model retail not aftermarket just wasn’t appealing to me at the price. Both of these headphones to me seem well priced for retail and have the feature I most wanted to get my first Beyer, super tempting…
If the mids are similar with better highs and subbass this will be my dream coming true.
Oh I don’t disagree, I’m fully aware of what I’m missing out. It’s just that I’m stubborn, it’s more or less something I think should already be commonplace in the industry considering it’s 2021 and not the 90s. So, as a personal decision I’d rather support the slight effort taken to just add that one feature that allows a small portion of customizability than put up with what I think is an unnecessary compromise. I know it may seem dense, it’s my personal preference.
yall aint making this decision between the 1990 and 900 pro x easy lol.
if he didn’t I was going to offer to send him my copy for review
Nice video. He mentioned the same issue I had with the short in the connector. In my case it was just the cable not the connector.
Yea I do think there might be an issue with the connectors. There is a bit of wiggle when the cable it connected. They are not a tight connection.
just got y DT700 Pro X, Yay
Too bad the short cable is faulty, but the long one works fine
So far loving the sound, solid all around , tried it on my Topping A50s + E30, IFI zen stack (CAN+ DAC) but i think my favorite is Hybrid - Loxji P20 + SMSL M100, Just a bit of “tubyness” makes it a bit more fun.
That being said its mostly for work but i think it will probably take its place in my headphone rotation
