yep, it is just a cosmetic decoloration in the plastic like it was rubbed against a hard surface. I’m just nitpicking because I bought directly from beyer. I expected to be perfect. LOL
Oh I see, I misunderstood. I thought there was an issue with the earcup not being sited properly in the headphone.
Maybe I’m blind but I don’t see anything? lol
I have some initial impressions…
Is that even possible? you had them for less than 1h
YES
I used exclusively the tygr 300r before the dt900 pro x arrived.
My brain got used to the sound really fast. That is the case with most beyer. If i go from my beyers to the he5xx or hd800s it takes me 3 days to fully unlock soundstage, imagine, and more.
The dt900 pro x have less middbase and less bloom overall. The mids are more present and a little forward which might give the impression of not so wide soundstage (need more time with them). The mids are more present and clear. Macro dynamic are not as strong as the dt990 600 if I remember correctly.
They are much more easy to drive than the tygr 300r. I am using the RNHP at 10am where the tygr reached 11-12.
Edit: fix grammar
Going to sit and do some testing and comparing through the week. Curious how this will take to eq as well
So the 1m cable 3pin mini xlr is broken. the signal goes to mono if I move my head arround. i tried a replacement cable i had and it does not happen going to try the 3m one…
Edit: 3m cable is good.
That‘s unlucky, sorry to hear that
Both cables that came with my DT 700 work. I also have a short chorded Mini-XLR to 3.5mm cable and that works as it should.
I should add the noise isolation is exceptional, approaching ANC levels for me. I live near a highway and have a pair of Sony XM4 just for when I need to clear my head, but these isolate really, really well.
I do kinda wish they would’ve included some leather pads with the closed back for isolation. Just would’ve been nice imo
got the 700 in the other day… been using them for a bit… is it just me or is this almost the same signature just with a bit more in the bass region? Like, I do like these headphones? but, I can’t honestly justify the price tag as I am failing to see whats so spectacular with these compared to their respective predecessors. Like the 900 pro x doesn’t replace the dt 880 600 ohm for me… it feels like it fits into a more niche area for like streamers or something who really don’t want an amp of sorts. Perhaps I need more time with these.
Do you mean relative to the DT 900 Pro X? I felt the two are very similar seeing as the DT 900 Pro X seems more semi-open. So there is very little difference to me as well. But the DT 700 being closed back does have slightly more bass and less soundstage. But these two things seem ever so slight to me. I am thinking if I was to keep only one I may keep the DT 700 since it’s pretty decent for being a close back. I have plenty open back headphones to choose from.
okay so im not crazy then. Yeah I mean the 900 pro x. The signature is pretty much exactly the same just the differences between closed and open back change the sound a little…
I personally, won’t be keeping either one of these. I do think they are worth while in buying but the price is a bit much less you really want a beyer without that heavy handed treble. These resolve extremely well and the detail is extremely good, soundstage is a bit smaller, imaging is still ridiculous and is 3d as hell. If anything I would call this a Side grade to the original DT lineup just with thicker pads(and a hotspot I have noticed on the top of my head.)
This is like… if you don’t want to spend money on an amp with a strong motherboard or other source that can push them, you like streaming or something, you don’t like excessive treble, you want a balanced approach, you like detachable cables, and you don’t mind spending a bit extra to get beyer performance so like fps gamers would love this
On a side note? Can I get the damn pads for my T1 beyer??? I love how smooth these feel in comparing to the dekoni
Yea I have been leaving both headphones stretched out overnight which helped with the clamp. I do feel the hotspot like you said, but I guess it doesn’t bother me too much after a while. But the original headband is way more comfortable than these. My TYGR 300r is super comfy being that it also has the Dekoni headband on top.
You what keeps coming to mind with these headphones is these are a “safe and easy to recommend purchase”. That is if you don’t care about a purchase for an amp/dac. (I have mainly just been using these with the ifi Zen Dac V2)
Yea that would be really awesome if they could sell these for the older models
Yea that would be really awesome if they could sell these for the older models.
Plus one on that!
INCASE ANYBODYS WONDERING theres your 700 pro x there facing off with the 80 ohm 770. You can definitely see the dial back on that treble there, better upper mids are seen there, and the bass is smoother yet still raised… on the 900 pro x I get practically the same but the bass is more neutral in line with the mids…
theyd probably make quite a lot of money… dekoni velours are very popular for like 1990
yeah this is what I am seeing, which is fine. It doesn’t specifically make me the targeted consumer of this and I am okay with that, I can still safely recommend these as they are absolutely not bad at all. I just can’t justify the price tag of $100 more than the original so to speak since the DT 770 there can be bought for like… $100 mint condition toss in a cheap amp/dac combo unit thatll bring you up to like $170-$200… and you still save $100… add dekoni velours and your still only up to like $240… no matter how I look at it these headphones are just a little bit too much in the price bracket… I could see these being worth $250 but not much higher than that
I’m a yes to all of these so that’s why they’re a win for me haha
Where did you get the frequency response? That’s super helpful to see it visually, I knew they quelled the treble a little bit which was a pleasant surprise. I’ve been driving them back and forth on tubes and the Jot 2 and it’s taken a little while to get used to them but now they sound great; these will be a keeper for me.
I’m hoping the pads hold up, they’re super comfy and isolate well.
youtuber named Nouvraught(kudos for that btw if your out there somewhere appreciate the graph) posted a review on the two here and had the frequency graph for it.
so something I got outta the 900 pro x and I highly encourage doing is something with IFI or a bass boost… more so ifi later models where you get that 3d button and bass button? You get similar back to the 990 actually lol it sounds good to be honest. Bass button on the 700 I mean… is it a bit much sure but its fun and doesnt break
I couldnt get linsoul to sell the pads off the zeus… though beyer is know to sell spare parts… I want these pads beyer… without the friggin adapter glued on… make this happen for all your headphones as an extra accessory
lol I was just about to say… this is the one thing I do with these headphones on the ifi Zen Dac V2… turn on the bass boost to turn them into the “fun” headphone.
