đŸ”¶ Beyerdynamic TYGR 300 R

could be presentation maybe? the elex, even tho i don’t consider then agressive some people might because of how engaging and dynamic they are. I could imagine other headphones sounding aggressive even if neutral. or maybe he just misspoke

Fun means deviating away from neutrality appropriately resulting in more “wow” factor; usually it ends up being emphasized bass and distinctive colourations in the upper mids / treble sooo eh? Honestly, I will just wait till I get them.

Well yeah. ive heard it described as V shaped, but i hate it when midrange is absent. so U or W shaped is more what i like. also described as “Aggresive” “Fun” “Exciting” “Forward” are all keywords to describe the sound.

I used to like nuetral. but then i heard the fostex ebony. i was blown away by how much i loved the bass. Then getting the Arya’s and hearing all that treble and bass and big sound presentation. When going back to the Elex i found it “small” sounding compared.

Its been a long trip and many headphones and 1000’s of dollars lol but i think ive found what i like.

Also a forward soundstage. I like detail and when you have too large a soundstage they can be lost like the Arya. But for instance the Elex soundstage is fine with me.

This is actually the reason I don’t particularly like the K712 or K7xx. The soundstage is far to large and its to the point it loses its accurate sound. I love a real large and wide soundstage but not when it feels like there is no barrier to the staging instead it gets trailed off to the end beyond which is weird to me. So far the Aeon open X are by far my favorite for V shape next to my dt 1990 which are neutral bright but still somewhat V signature. Although those 177x Go I definitely think are much more U shaped
sounds real different to my ears. so yeah.

hmm, interesting. i should check those headphones out. I have the DT880 and i like it. it lacks some body, but it sounds better on tubs. Zeos just reviews them and called them “Giant Killers” I was gonna sell them but now im thinking of keeping them. I really want to hear the DT1990.

But what i like so much about the Helios is it seems to have a foward soundstage yet also has a big sound. I dont know whats going on there but i love how they sound. have you been able to hear one yet?

Well the 1990s aren’t necessarily that wide sound
they are very up front and intimate to the hearing so you may actually like them
its nowhere near like an arya or aeon or anything that has that “concert” like sound to them. Though it still sports a pretty large sound stage. It’s an odd one and the pads really do make a nice difference depending on which you use. Balanced pads are nice too out of the box they are a hell of a lot softer and aren’t as analytical for those who want a different approach
Aeons are those omg concert like sound laid back bassy smooth rolled treble yet very smooth V lovem to death all the more so on my new liquid platinum.

Depends on the ohms in this case and what amp your using. Need 600 ohms for the best sound on them and this demands a pretty damn high tier amp setup(probably in the $400 range) just like the T1

I know they require a lot of power but i powered them fine on my RNHP and Darkvoice although i had to turn the volume up to almost max.

hmm, definitely try the 1990 then. It shares that neutral bright kind of sound but its a lot better with more body. Though ya know
nowhere near as demanding. I would say the T1 instead but its brighter despite sounding better imo it has rounded bass and a more laid back sound though.

yeah, that keyword is a sign im not gonna like it lol

Yep, thats why I said probably not since you prefer that more aggressive or intimate sound to your headphone. If you can get your hands on the 1990 try them while ya consider those tygrs.

the tygr is mostly describesd as a more laid back beyer . good bass response and excellent imaging but thats just beyer who generally has good imaging. the soundstage is supposed to be comparable to the 990 or 880. if you want something more agressive the 990 is the way to go. has a very similar sound sig to the helios just with more bass extension and more soundstage aND maybe more recessed mids and sharper treble. I dont have the helios so I cant say for sure but looking at measurements alone they play in a similar ball park in terms of sound sig.

z will hype anyhthing he thinks is good but you also gotta remember z may not be as particular as you are. one of his future videos as hes alluded to many times hes probably gonna hype up the 600 ohm 880 pretty hard similar to that like the hd 280 pro and from what I remember you didnt enjoy the 880s that much

not sure on that one since the helios is said to be more neutral yet the 990s are a very sharp V with definite recessed mids but I don’t own the helios so I can’t say for certain.

He is going to yea, but the T1 can be taken further than a dt 880 though its definitely a higher price and tier. The dt 880 600 ohm for its price, provided you actually have the right amp to back up the 600 ohm liquid spark won’t be enough, is a fantastic headphone for sure but it still demands a higher price setup to sound its best. They need to make a “gaming” style headphone like they have here with the Tygr and MMX300. Tygr is a full open back and mmx is a closed back. We don’t have a semi open like a T1 or DT 880 yet in that area for beyers and it definitely needs done. The customs don’t come anywhere near the DT series except maybe the Studio version but even then I would take a DT 770 over it any day of the week. Studio is like for those who don’t have some real pricey amp or anything and still want that good sound for a budget. If Tygr is more V like a 990 then we need the Neutral bright like the dt 880s make it sound great but with less ohm demand and it definitely will sell
the 880s are immensely popular amongst the gaming community especially those who are treble sensitive and can’t stand the 990.

Well back when they emailed me on Wednesday they said it would ship out before the end of the week but it’s now Saturday 8pm est and I still have no shipping confirmation so I’m a little disappointed. I agree with zeos wishing they were on amazon lol that 2 day shipping is too good.

Had the same email, no shipping confirmation.

Thing about Zeos is he loves economy in this hobby. Maybe hes had problems in the past with recommending expensive headphones and people have gotten angry with him? But this is one of his favorite things. good headphones that are cheap. I love that too as im always complaining about the inflation in this hobby. One of the reasons i love the Helios so much.

Giant Killers are a wonderful thing. it benefits everyone and makes those companies lower their prices. lots of bad stuff happening in this hobby. ITs one of the reasons i wanna buy this headphone. i’m very temped

I mean, I think all of us love to save money. Kind of teh point of reviewing them especially if they are phenomenal for the price. I mean hell, kph30i completely stomps all over a lot of headphones despite being $30

Ive decided to buy these but there out of stock on the Beyer site. Anyone know of someplace else i can get one?

They should be back in stock according to beyer as of this week, I had an email stating they received a shipment for these and had to unpack them they just haven’t been shipped. Most places are out of stock less you buy that bundle on amazon or something. You can only buy the headphone itself directly through beyer.

Only other place to get them is on amazon and that’s only with the bundle so $300 and a microphone you might not want/need.
