đŸ”¶ Beyerdynamic TYGR 300 R

does US beyerdynamics regularly stock the tygr earpads? everytime i look them up, they’re always out of stock.

@lush they’re just 990 black pads with the tygr foam piece instead of the standard form. best way to get would be to either email the parts department and get in their system for when they get stock or to just order the 990 pads if you didn’t need the foam piece.

i can’t find dt990 earpads on beyerdynamic’s store, but i found these on amazon: Amazon.com: beyerdynamic EDT 990 V Ear pad Set Velour Silver Grey : Electronics

are those it? if so that’s good to know, thanks!

That looks like it matches the DT 990 model number: 904163

But I noticed the TYGR 300 R has a different model number: 934631

I will chime in to help here with confirmation as well

The Tygr 300r Uses the EDT 990 VB pads from the DT 990. They started selling tygrs pads separately which include the foam pieces later on though

its not the most “beyer” sounding beyer headphone for sure but they are damn nice I will give them that.

I am considering picking them up, because as much as I’ve started to enjoy the Harmonicdyne Zeus, they’re not the most exciting sounding due to their lower treble and sub bass.

How is the detail on the Tygrs? How do they compare to
 say, SHP 9500s?

I personally never found 9500 to be all that detailed but its alright. Tygrs have less treble presence and air so it may feel more enclosed though tygr is still very detailed for a more warm signature

Hi, what’s the HSC filter?

That’s a High Shelf, center frequency at 10,000 Hz.

Out of curiosity, just a general question to anyone that has had these for an extended period of time. How has the cable held up over that time?

Owned mine a little over 14 months. No issues. The cable length is short enough that running a desk chair over them is going to be quite a feat. It’s the newer beyerdynamic cable style, which is more rubbery than plasticy like their older cables.

Biggest issue i can see is major abuse or a pet getting ahold of it.

@givemebeer Thanks, I just bought me a pair I look forward to getting them.

Hello, out of curiosity, what is the durability of the ear pads for these cans? Do you notice a change in sound signature when they wear out to it’s limit? Finally, what do you recommend to replace the worn ear pads: 3rd party or OEM?

I come from a Sennheiser HD6XX, and to be frank the clamp is not doing it for me. Plus, I heard the sound changes when the pads get worn. It’s still a great headphone - don’t get me wrong - I’ve tried to bend it, but I suppose my head is simply not meant for those cans.

Edit: to elaborate, they put pressure on my jaw(?) and over time, I feel fatigued by this pressure point

Good. I’ve had beyer pads last multiple years with no issues.

I never notice until putting on new pads.

If you’re happy with OEM, stay OEM. Dekoni velours work, too.

thank you for the reply. i saw Zeos’ video where he does pad rolling on all of his Beyerdynamic headphones with Dekoni pads. I wanted the Elite Velours for comfort reasons (because I already have experience with Dekoni pads), and I was afraid of changing the sound too drastically.

As long as you keep them relatively stock or a type of velour pad you should be alright
though deeper thick pads like elite velour do change the sound a good amount
If you need stock pads on these they are known as EDT 990 VB black or rather the DT 990’s black pads in particular.
