Bought the AKG K702. Not happy with it due to pad comfort and overall size of the cups. In search for alternatives

That actually should work for a 250 ohm. Not bad at all. Looked it up yeah… should work fine. skip the ma400 pick up the 250 ohm and try it… try to get the 250 ohm for as cheap as possible

Really? Nice.

The 62ohm K702s work very well, but I am not sure if it will work with 4 times the load. But maybe I am wrong and impedance isn’t the only thing in the equasion.

@M0N you know more into that than I do. Can you confirm if this will run a 250 ohm like the 880s? ROG SupremeFX 2015 8-Channel High Definition Audio. Looks like it will just fine.

It will get loud but not be ideal, but that being said I think the 250 ohm now and a better amp later running off the motherboard audio would be worthwhile

Less you have a better suggestion I brought up the cheapo ma400

Yeah, buying amp later on is definitely a possibility for me.
Just don’t have the budget for it atm, and don’t want it to sound trash in the meantime.

That most likely will just end up being similar to motherboard audio, perhaps look for a topping a30 or something like that? FX audio dac x6 is also solid in this regard

Price wise it would be like $60 - $100 for a proper amp… $100 being the ideal amp less you really want to get into technical sound.

It won’t sound trash, but you can get more out of it later

I’ll go with the 250 then. Probably will buy an AMP later.
I’ll also save 15$, because for some reason the 250ohm is cheaper here than the 32.

Sounds good. Hope you like the headphones

Hey, just got my DT880s.
Right from the box I can tell that the comfort is far better than on the K702s and I am now satisfied in that regard. I also appreciate the hugely better build quality.

I can heard that they don’t have as wide soundstage as the K702s, but tbh I don’t really care about that that much. They sound quite good. They’re similar to K702s, but have a bit more bass which I preffer.

I have been thinking if it wasn’t better to go with the DT990s for the more bass and more openness that they have. But I was not sure if I would like the more treble, which is present due to the V signature that they have.

Overall, I am happy with the 880s. Thanks for the advice.

go with what you like man. Glad you like the 880s.

Short question: Is the 990 more or less bright then the 880?
Thanks.

990 is much brighter than 880. 990s are the sharp V signature. 880s are the V neutral signature

Would you recommend the custom studio if I were to listen to many different genres of songs (just casual music listening) and gaming? Do they have good imaging? If not what other headphone options do you suggest for closed backs that are under $200? Is there a better option?

HiFiMan Sundaras?

Decided to rewrite this in simpler form cause I keep editing it lol. Due to the nature of the studio being essentially a less treble based dt 770 the imaging is very good and the soundstage is wider than an average closed back. Is there an alternative? The only ones that come to mind as far as actual alternatives are takstar pro 82 but has less sound stage to it and M40x which needs some modifications to be up there.

I would recommend the studio in the case of multiple genres due to the ability of being able to switch from bright competitive headphone sound to casual sound

Btw in all 4 bass options of the custom studio, is it clear and not muddy at all, and is the bass enjoyable for lets say edm, pop, and electronic music (i usuaply lisyen to twentyone pilots)?

Back when I had it I would usually use the second notch from the top(press it all the way down to get the most bass) just because I felt it was more natural to me personally though fully opening up that bass I wouldn’t say muddy but it has good sub bass and impact. It was able to hit plenty hard enough. I would say your just fine in that regard.

Just a headsup though. If someone reading this is a vocal lover? Recommended not going with the studio. Mids will be recessed albeit slightly.
