🔷 Burson Soloist 3X

I switched to using a Mjolnir 3 as my main SS amp due to the Soloist 3xp having a high noise floor, and just not sounding quite right to me. Maybe it was the V6 opamps that made it sound odd to me. I will be using the soloist 3xp in a 2nd setup once I upgrade my DAC in my main setup, so I will definitely give the V7 opamps a shot. Thanks for sharing.

I had a little bit of noise in the super early V6 Vivids, but in the later generations of them, they were dead silent. It was actually kinda disappointing moving up to the GT because the noise floor was even more than the 3XP with the older opamps but the only things I ever use that could possibly pick up on the noise is IEMs and I rarely use IEMs at my desk anyways. Food for thought.

I’ve accidentally removed a ton of noise from my chain just by changing the regular fuse in my dac to a gustard 3.15A fuse. And I didn’t know, that I had all that noise to begin with. I wasn’t a fuse believer before this curious experiment. Well, now I am

In my case it was very apparent on the Arya Stealth.

Are you running a supercharger?

yes, I purchased one in my 2nd month of Soloist 3xp ownership.

Edit: to be fair this was at medium gain, and I have freakishly good hearing .

Yeah I’m super sensitive to noise too but I’m not exaggerating at all when I say after a certain point, my 3xp was as dead silent as any Topping amp with IEMs. I’m not sure exactly what was causing the noise at first but when I tore it apart at one point to mess with opamps and strapped the new ones down like they came from the factory, all of the sudden it was Topping quiet.

Good to know. I will be buying new opamps for my Soloist 3xp eventually, but my Yggdrasil MIB, SJY Audio Horizon, and ZMF CO purchases come first (a Valhalla 3 as well, but still no release date).

There is also the tube budget to consider for next year, for both the Vali 3 and Valhalla 3.
