JDS Labs OL DAC $45 No blemishes or issues to mention, comes with power brick.
-
F.Audio XS-02 $75 I love this player. It has an AKM4490 chip and great dynamics. I love the clicky buttons. You can swap the op-amps out very easily. It has a low and high gain port (both 3.5mm) and takes MicroSD cards and uses MicroUSB for charging. Holds a very good charge.
-
VentureCraft SounDroid Valoq $100 I would recommend a new battery for this (circa $20 on AliX). A really fun player, a very firm power/volume knob, a jog wheel for navigation, balanced output, very sturdy, op-amps can be easily swapped using a hatch in the back. Condition is showing wear, including scuffs to the screen. Hopefully it goes to a collector who plans to use it. AKM4490 chip.
Accessories
- Massive foam/gel selection of eartips $45 or $40 bundled. Completely unused Monster gel sets, several sealed Comply foams (all L), some Newbees, some hybrid (seem to be L) and some sealed silicones too for good measure.
Solid dude with some very solid prices!

Hello, fellas
I’m currently looking for a decent stand-alone desktop DAC for my set up at home. I was looking at the usual contenders around $150 from Topping and FiiO so before I pull the trigger on a brand new offering for that price point, I was wondering if anyone has anything they’d like to get ride of for around $150 that might work well for me. Not looking for anything specific, just something that has decent specs that doesn’t color the sound too much either way.
If you have anything, please send me a PM, thank you!
You can buy a new JDS Labs Atom+ DAC for $109. Fits all of your needs. Great product and company that stands behind it with superb service and support.
thank you for that Rec! I’ll definitely look into that for sure
My pleasure, man. Good luck!
Not sure if “looking for” means this as well, but: does anyone know of any digital-only Bluetooth receiver that receives LDAC, decodes it and outputs the PCM via USB, and lets you feed that into any DAC you want? Has to be portable/pocketable, like no more than… BTR7-ish size. (I’d like to upgrade my HiBy FC3 dongle to BT receiver status and not switch to a ready-made receiver that outputs analog audio at different parameters than the FC3.)
The only one that I can think of is the Fiio bta30 pro. It can transmit and receive ldac. The only problem is that it doesn’t have usb out, only line, optical, and coax out.
LOL, that does way more than what I asked and is gigantic. I guess I forgot to say “portable”.
at that size I don’t know of anything with USB out
In a delayed response to your question, I got the Ambrosia’s today and they are Awesome, IMO.
A very nice headphone for $499.00. Great bass and mids, depending on your amp.
These are much more well rounded than the Bee planars. And MUCH easier to drive. I think he will do very well with these.
