I made a post a few days back asking what kind of headphone I should get for gaming, and after some long discussions and a bit of help from other people, I finally narrowed down the list to 2 headphones.
The Fidelio X2hr’s and the Audio Technica ATH-ADG1X.
In my country the Audio Technicas are slightly cheaper than the X2hr’s + Vmoda mic combo. The difference is around only 10 euros.
I don’t really wan’t another pair to compare them to, but if anyone has any suggestions, I’ll be happy to hear them.
And just so you don’t ask anymore, my budget is 140 euros, on pc
I would say the Audio technica’s, i heard a lot of bad things about the x2hr’s. not very good sound. Those Audio Technica’s will have no clamp so you may want to get a headband too lol
I’ve only heard that they’re not as good as the audio technica’s, gaming wise.
But listening to music, they’re slightly better, especially the bass
But then again, more bass is worse for gaming
Yeah i hear the X2HR are terrible for music
how though? I heard they’re excellent
Just comments on the forum and some videos ive seen. I know Zeos seemed to like them. but he likes most stuff
Tell me again what kind of music you like to listen to. I’ll do some listening and let you know what I think for that genre.
I would say neither. But here my thoughts on both.
If you want a headphone for “fun” gaming and get some bloaty boosted mid bass that will sound ok with modern pop and rap get the X2. Detachable cable is a plus.
If you want a headphone for competitive gaming and get an open airy but bass light sound that works best with classical and female vocals get audio technica. Must be able to live with the attached wire. Also note the wing headband system does not work for everyone. I found it to be like a feather on my head but some people can’t stand it and say it always slides down.
If you’ve never had anything more than crappy headsets you will probably be happy with either.
If you put a gun to my head and made me take one I’d choose the audio technica.
Some rap (bbno$), songs from Cloudkid, Two Feet, Dennis Lloyd, Benny Mane, pop songs, sometimes electronic, but usually all the songs I listen to have some kind of vocals. Not really a huge fan of only beats
Then what would you like instead of these 2?
I haven’t heard the Audiotechnicas, but I think you’d probably be happy with the X2HR. Could you remind me why we ruled out the Beyerdynamics? DT880 or 990?
Going to guess no amp? Or no availability?
I have no amp
Dt 770 250 ohm? That one actually tends to work on a decent motherboard audio
I mean, they are available, but I thought that cans with more than 70-80 ohms require an amp
The 80 ohm might make more sense, but I think you could actually squeak by without an amp for the 250 ohm, what motherboard would you be plugging this into
ASROCK B365 Pro 4
Hmmmm it might be a bit risky, but it could work. But to stay on the safe side since that board doesn’t have a specific audio amp, I would say the 80 ohm. Or the k371 too
The k371 are available and in my price range, but I don’t think I’ve heard any reviews about them
I also have the beyerdynamic dt990 pro 32 ohm version available
