Crin's Tribrid Shootout

Yes. 1 or 2 dd + 4 Est

You would only need a big DD and then 2 or 4 ESTs.

Or you can do the Z1R way, and use a full range DD and then a smaller tweeter DD for the upper-treble.
(skipping the BA though.)

CCA NRA is an interesting test IEM for the DD + EST combo. I have one ordered and Riku is getting one as well.

Rikudou_Goku collaboration IEMs when???

Yeah, I was thinking about Z1R. But take out BA, put in ests, better shell. Pffft i’d be happy

2 ways to do it IMO.

DD + EST

or

DD + tweeter DD

DD and planar wouldn’t be able to fit together, right?

Isnt that one a “fake” est?

They do. Tri I3 Pro, Rikudou_Goku just reviewed it!
But theres BAs…

Also has BA, right?

DD and planar only might be a weird combination. Feels like you would want a third driver for the treble.

Or a DD (bass) + planar (mids) + DD (treble) combination.

It is an magnestostat so yes, not an EST (technically non of the iems out there have a true EST, not even the Sonion, they are all electrets…besides the shure KS1500).

Isn’t planar able for all frequencies?

They aren’t perfect but for around 100 bucks, they are incredibly impressive for the price (hence where it is and why it is described the way it is on my tier list). Especially the bass. The FH3 has a huge following and for good reason. Remember the price point. You could go with Mele, Aria or Starfield too. The FH3 is still my personal choice for around that price point.

Yes, but they are mostly known for their mids (and also how they can take a lot of bass EQ). Treble might be better to let a DD do the work.

Technically from what I understand at the very least all drivers can do all frequencies, just that some do certain ranges “better” than others

Depends on if you are using a full range driver or not. Some BAs for example are only supposed to do the treble or the bass.

Those Sonion ESTs are also made for treble (tweeters).

Didnt know about that shure. Only heard about elysian annihilator 2021, but comes with a hefty tag :smirk:

The Shure KS system is not cheap either. And it is a system since it comes with it’s own specific amp it needs to use.

Not an electrostatic driver either.

The ones that are “real” are the ones with that energizer kit separately. Like the KS1500.
