Maybe a small section of heat shrink on/in one of the machined grooves of the plugs?
I did something similar on the latest cable I made for a customer. I think a simple black and red band on each side looks best as it’s pretty stealthy.
The cables received and attached to the Blon B20 headphones and extremely happy with them! They are exactly how I wanted them, they were meant to somewhat match the color scheme of the headphones themselves.
I’m nowhere near a professional, but someone wanted another one of these connectors to use. Gotta say I like the orange.
Your color choice was right on for the Blon. Really looks great with them. Enjoy!
@Nick_Mimi suggested that I create a custom Y splitter as mentioned in a previous post. Was so excited to see what the wood looked like after finally getting it into the shape I wanted and did the first pass at a finish on it. Looks really cool and a great choice Nick! Can’t wait to get it finished and super shiny and on the cable permanently!

I don’t know if this counts but this is my cable adaptation – Neo+ by Oyaide cable 3.5mm to dual 6.5mm for DJ’s. I’ve added adaptors to all three points to use them for my Sundaras. A little cumbersome but the soundstage is noticeably wider and the instrument separation clearer and all in all the music is sharper than the original cable.
sorry, I didn’t mean to paste each photo twice, I just don’t know why it happened and I can’t seem to remove the double

I grabbed the first two via quoting. If you remove the second ![image|
etc it will be fixed.
Thanks! it worked
That cable looks 100% professional made = dope!
@Nick_Mimi 's cable is finished and on the way! Thanks, Nick for the great idea for the Camphor burl wood Y piece and adjustor. Hope to have a lathe soon to make more detailed pieces like this!

I’ve been trying out a variety of wire and insulation types to get the right sound / weight / feel in a braided cable. I’ve finally found two I like that I made cables from. The first is a 24AWG UP-OCC chonk of a cable where it’s noticeable louder and slightly warmer. I really love the sonic properties, but it definitely is stiffer and thicc. The second is a silver tinned OFC copper that has a PE insulation that’s much more flexible and light weight and sounds neutral to me.
Welcome to HFGF! Nice job on those cables.
Where do you guys bulk wire from? I’m looking for 18 AWG stranded or solid core OFC/OCC copper wire with multiple colors available. I’m not talking about paired wire like speaker wire - I need individual wires. TIA
Burls are the truth and look good on small pieces where birdseye and flame need a bit more space to show off. Do you have any access to redwood burls?
I also suggest a product called truoil for finishing. Its oil based, can be hand applied, and really pops the natural depth of wood, while being durable. It is also easily repaired if needed.
I could source redwood burl probably pretty easily as I live in California, and there are lots of redwood trees here. The Camphor was a specific request, and first time playing with something that small. I’ll check out the truoil you mentioned, I used boiled linseed oil and CA glue to create the outer layers. Seemed to work pretty well, but as always there is room to improve!
Thanks,
Jason
Trueoil is lindseed based but its stabilized to be easier to work with. No need to use the CA glue either. A few layers and a little steel wool and you are good. A little wax if you please of buff it up for a shine. If you would like more info hit me up in the PMs
