Custom cable gallery

It appears that you can make your own Audioquest Diamond ethernet cables for a price considerably lower than one of your testicles. I mean I’d never laugh at you if you’ve bought one of these since you’ve obviously got Walter Whitman level piles of cash laying around.

But I have to admit, I’d be willing to take one for the team and buy a pair just to try them out. Curious to know what’s the consensus from the peanut gallery?

Why would you buy field-crimpable connectors?
For the price of like 4 of them, you can get a top-quality crimping tool and go to town.

Hmmm, not finding them stateside.

The connectors or crimping pliers?

Yeah I know, not sexy but sometimes you need RCA cables that are just the right length. I saved myself a whopping $20 bucks making these myself (if you don’t include the hour it took to make them) but there’s a certain satisfaction of getting something that’s a perfect fit.

Wanted to try out the Amphenol connectors, not bad but I still prefer the Canare crimp on.

Since then I have not ventured away from my trusted Neutrik. Used Sommercable’s “Hicon” connector once. PITA to solder to.

Whoa! Nice thread I have hart cables, the standard red ones but I recently ask them to custom made a 2 pin mmcx

Is the 2-pin getting added to the lineup?

Most likely!

Looks like the 2 pin you did for me a couple of weeks ago…!! That would be crazy if it is!!

Sent in an email for the custom cables I wanted to order! Looking forward to them!!!

Re-Terminated this cable of mine with a “Neutrik NYS 231 BG LL”, the LL meaning Large. Means I can fit this big chungus of a cable (5.5mm outer diameter) in the back.

I also made a cable that runs from my A-100 to my resistor box without taking up room on the desk.
Note on the Hicon HI-J63SA04: They take a LOT of power to get up to heat without melting the plastic in them. So I would say 50W soldering iron minimum, big chisel tip prefered.

I also put some heatshrink over the cable clamp to act as a strain relief (not realy needed with how thick the cable is). The Order of sliding parts on the cable is: Shell → plastic insulator → heat shrink → plug

Finished cable:

And plugged into the A-100:

Minor gripe with the Hicon jacks: The logo ends up on the “bottom”. They are nice connectors! I want to show off what they are dammit!

Alright here’s another dump of some recent stuff:

Been goofing off with some over the top branding stuff lately.

And then we also did our first limited run recently. Thought this might fall flat on its face but we sold the whole batch. So thanks to whoever grabbed one of these <3:

Let’s palate cleanse the gross business stuff with more pictures of one-offs:

Me too – I replaced the cable on my Focal Utopia with cables from CustomCans made using 84 strand litz copper, wrapped in coloured paracord (black and grey in my case), and hand braided here in the UK. AND, the was such an improvement – much lighter and flexible AND the sound was less harsh.

I really like the cables that I get from Hart Audio Cables. I’m a total fan of the modular interconnects because I like to run the same headphone from different amp sources. Here are my latest additions.

This first one is a cable I had made for my Hifiman Edition X V2. The color option is “Force”. The blue highlights are accentuated by the glow from my backlit keyboard, and really make it “pop” - and we all know that makes it sound even better!

This next cable is one that I had made up after I was browsing the sleeve options for another cable. And it hit me - hey - that “Zebra” looks a lot like the stock cable for my Focal Elegia. How awesome would it be to get a cable made that looked stock, but was not a stiff lamp-cord like kink monster???
Stock and Hart side-by-side

To make it as close to stock as I could, I wanted the 3.5mm ends that connect to the cups to have the same full size diameter barrel like the stock Focal cables, because the openings in the cups are a larger diameter and the thinner slim barrels, though they work just fine, look a little out of place to a cat like me with a hint of OCD… So, I reached out to @brux via a quick email to the Custom Shop, and explained what I was after. The next day Hannah replied stating they could do it and, she even had an invoice all ready to go! How simple is that?! They are an awesome team!!!

I really dig the “custom” stock cable! I got the look that I like from the original cable and the functionality that comes from being a part of the Hart echo system.

Oh… and it looks fantastic !!!

You will have to wait and see what they are building for me next. It’s another cable that requires some non-standard connectors for the cups and again the reply was, no problem. I can not recommend Hart Audio Cables enough.

Thank you both, I really appreciate all you do. Have a Happy, Safe, and Stellar New Year!

Here is a very purple cable I made for my 58X. Made with litz wire, so you can bend it any which way you want, lol.

Incoming another dump of semi-recent custom stuff. It’s recently become much harder to order custom stuff from us. Hopefully that’s just temporary.

Some of my personal cables I was using to try to make a new website header. Our lightbox isn’t big enough and I’m not talented enough with a camera to really make it work, but we got close? haha

We dabble in braided stuff these days. It’s pricey though

This was a pretty wacky custom thing

I like the braided ! :blue_heart:
