Custom cable gallery

I just got a cable for my HP-3, Sundara, and Elear from a company called No-Hiss Audio from Vegas and its a really good cable for the price ($129).

It’s built like a tank and improved the SQ on all 3 headphones with the Sundara having the biggest change. They are well worth a look for anyone looking at getting a cable and they sell other cables than just for headphones to. The site is Nohiss.com

Where do you get your wire?

Amazing! Great video. I’m just starting to learn so this is very interesting.

Would you mind sharing your list of parts and where you sourced them please?

I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind?
How did you know which cables were which?
Is that “pool of melted solder” method a common thing and how do you do that, it’s cool!
And finally, at 5min when you slide the y-splitter onto the cable, there’s a large, clear tube over the top of the heat shrink already - does that come with the y-splitter?

Thanks

This was useful up u til the part where he figures out which wires are positive and which are negative and left right. How do you do that? Multimeter? Ahhh, did i miss something?
Also, HA, i found something the GF can do, she is an expert at braiding! Gonna put her ass to work for me…hehehehe

To make this 16 strands headphone cable I use 8 strands braid and double it You can find how to braid 8 strands rope on YouTube.

Litz wire needs a lot of time to tin it so I use a small ceramic cup and put soldering iron on it to make it like a solder pot

No, it doesn’t come from the splitter, I use multiple heat shrink tube stacked until it fit in the hole

How long time did it? From start to finish, roughly.
Very pretty DIY cable.

Takes about 2 hours.

Yes. I use multimeter to check witch wire are +R -R or +L -L.

Ah ha! I knew that must be the trick. I did not see you marking anything otherwise. 16 strands is a mess of wires to mate :+1:

Thank’s again for the video and info.

Some of the parts I got yesterday were made into a beefy 3.5mm ↔ 3.5mm (or 3/8’s) cable.

Please start a business @MazeFrame
We need a new custom cable manufacturer in our area

IF I ever do that. Hicon connectors will not be available.
They are horseshit-grade to solder to.

Neutrik FTW

Looked into it. Is about 20 forms to fill out and costs about 300€ (give or take).
MAYBE when I have a full time job or get realy desperate.

Does anyone have a good video/online guide for soldering 2pin IEM connectors?

This one is okay but it fast-forwards through the most useful parts!

2 pin connectors seem to have tiny holes in them where thin wire can fit in, but soldering it is difficult for a beginner so any advice would be most welcome

Buy a bunch of cheap ones and practice. Also keep the cable gauge reasonable, don’t try to solder something super thick. And get a sharp soldering tip.

80W (or higher) powered iron and go for it!

Cheers :+1:
And are you supposed to fit the wire into those thin holes? Solder onto the sides? Or get some of the cable into the hole and the rest down the outside and solder it like that?

In theory.

Without a picture, it is hard to say what “on the sides” means.
