I liked the Anandas initially and still do for more acoustic and orchestral stuff but for more mainstream music like rock and hiphop they just lack that impact / flavor. Iāve heard the new aeons are good for more mainstream genres would you agree? Also how are the dynamics?

IMO they are great overall cans once really broken in and used with an amp with enough emf to make them sing.
Dynamics are fastā¦wide. good bass to great highs to meā¦dependent on the sourceā¦

Listening with the Aeon 2 closed backs now after several hours of HEDDS.
Well they are very different, definitely warmer than the HEDDS. soundstage not as wide but still not bad.
More bassy than the HEDDs. definitley some emphasis on the mid to low bass for sureā¦a bit āboomyā compared to the HEDDāsā¦but again they are really nice, very enjoyable.
Using a balanced cable to the Schitt Jot. A good pairing.
Power to drive these is not much compared to the HEDDās for sureā¦only at 9pm for a loud presentation on the Aeon 2āsā¦compared to 11pm with the HEDDās. Interesting.
Mids and vocals compared sound a bit recessed. Again interesting.
The Aeon 2ās would be a good choice for āhotā music or trebly music, they would tone down things like old Beatles or Chicago or Blood Swear and Tears tunes!! lol.
Comfort the Aeon 2 are so comfortable compared to the HEDDāsā¦seem like they are not there compared!!
The bad thing is as good as they are I have been spoiled with the HEDDāsā¦

I own the Aeon2 Closed and the Anandaās and enjoy both for different reasons. What kind of music do you enjoy most and want dac/amp will you be feeding them?
I just read this part now, @lost33 has good insight as well on them! I agree Anandaās are excellent for orchestral, wind/string instruments, acoustic but sound a bit harsher with say electric guitar and some more modern produced music. However they do take EQ or Tone control and also smooth out a bit on Tube Hybrid Amps. I would say in my opinion the slam or dynamic punch of the Aeon 2ās is not significant and if that is really important to you, you may be disappointed. They do have bass and planar lower frequencies that are enjoyable but as I am sure @lost33 will tell you if you want more punch or dynamic impact from your bass the Focal Clear or Elear/Elex might give you more of that.

Absolutelyā¦the bass on the Aeon 2ās IMO is abit āmuffledā or a tad āboomyā after breakin. The bass and most everything with the Focals esp the Clears are just so much more tight and articulateā¦
The Aeons need a good snappy amp, even the Schiit Magni 3 will do wellā¦I would avoid the softer tube amps with theseā¦

Update on my previous comment. I just picked up an ifi xCAN and now the Aeon 2 have really started to shine. Everything sounds way more clear and the bass sounds amazing. As everyone has stated, the Aeon 2 is very amp picky, and I just didnāt have the right amps. I definitely prefer the Aeon 2 over the Elegia for modern genre songs (what I listen to most often), and Iām going to end up keeping them as my goto portable headphones.
Now to decide if I should return the Elegia or notā¦ It is killing me to return the Elegia since I got it on that $429 adorama deal!

Zeosās review should technically be made public next since he just made fulla 3 and Hel public which he aired at the same time on his patreon as the aeon 2 closed review. Still waiting and hoping he gets to the Aeon 2 Opens thats the one I want to hear him review and run a comparison vs the Aeon Open X.
Iām wondering if thereās maybe some consideration for a relationship with DCA that is stopping him from releasing that publicly. Or maybe itās gonna be a low hit video so heās waiting. Either way Iām curious to see it, but not dying 
By low hit I mean itās just not gonna have schiit fulla or hel numbers. Those appeal to a much wider audience than anything DCA makes
I will gladly take my aeons over most of my headphones and I donāt even own the aeon 2 yet. I have the open x it just sounds stupid good its not fair how good this headphone sounds on balanced setups like my Liquid Platinum. Schiit fulla and hel appeal to gamers and I am glad he finally released the video on them, I am a patreon of his so I view his stuff early lol, so now I have more of a reason to push something like schiit hel and my fellow audio gamer buddies wonāt think I am out of my mind lol.
If I would change anything on the aeonsā¦ itād be probably stop glueing the pads please, create a variety of pad fabrics that work well with the sound so I donāt have to order adhesive and custom fabrics for the headphone, let me had just a bit more padding on the headband as I am not the biggest fan of straps personally. These are very nit picky comments though

I think that happened mainly because the aeon1 was moving towards EOL and they needed to move stock? I could be wrong but that seems to be the case with the ether CX as well. Evidence: the Mr Speakers branding on the CX and aeon x case
