I believe the recommended burn in time is 150-200 hours for the headphones and 25-50 hours for the filters, IIRC. Not sure about the filters, but the Aeon Open X I have definitely benefited from extended burn in.
The insert that comes with the cans states: 50-100 hours. For the headphones.
The review finally dropped.
Itās clear he didnāt read or wasnāt provided the documentation for the tuning pads. With the aeon 2 you arenāt supposed to combine the tuning pads. I think mostly you just donāt need to, while the aeon you kind of do (I used the 1 notch white with the black foam).
Itās interesting he doesnāt want to make direct comparisons between the open back X, and the 2c. The aeons are closed by about the same level wether or not they have the actual open back in my experience. So a very open closed back and a very closed open back if that makes sense.
Seems like he likes them. Good. Theyāre amazing, and punch above their cost imo.
Where is the review?
Thanks
Alex
there you go
I think its a good thing honestly. Since RT, open X, and 2 are all of a seperate tuning according to Dan Clark.
Really? I combine pads with my open x all the time though. Wonder if itās the difference in tuning or something. I use the 1 notch white felts usually though.
There saying of Feels closed but sounds open is one thing I enjoy about them honestly.
I am very glad he enjoys them. He mentioned reviewing the open 2ās if he can get an order from Apos. I really hope he does that soon I would love to hear his review on the comparisons between the one I own, open x vs those open 2ās
thanksā¦
So i got the 1/4 cable for my aeon 2 for portability and i was thinking about getting a 4 pin cable. For people who own both, Is there a significant sound difference between 1/4 to 4pin.
IMO, it depends on what youāre using to drive them. Balanced is not inherently better than single ended, but if youāre using an amp that has both, the balanced is the better bet, as most manufacturers focus on the implementation of the balanced section when both are offered. It all comes down to implementation, and a well implemented single ended amp can be just as good as a well implemented balanced amp.
Quick question, I know the difference is huge but should i save money and get Beyer T5P or neumann NDH20, sorry if this sounds stupid any advice would be great thanks.
So personally I own the Aeon2s, I run them single ended on my Schiit Asgard 3 and they are quite good but when I swap cables and run them balanced out of my Liquid platinum they come to life !!! Really good combo to meā¦
Sorry if this is considered hijacking a thread, but I had a question regarding amps and DACs.
What would be the cheapest possible option to get these to its full potential(or at least 90%)?
I have a budget of $500 for an amp/DAC, but would like to pay the least possible as I am also currently saving up for a pair of IEMs. It can be both desktop and portable, though I would prefer portable unless the desktop option is cheaper(by a significant margin) or provides better performance(again, by a significant margin). Iāve heard that the Matrix Audio HPA 3U+ was a good option, but was wondering if there was a cheaper/portable option that would perform similarly.
On an unrelated note,
Iāve now had my A2Cās for 2 weeks now. The soundstage had expanded quite a lot, and the music feels much more lifelike(I donāt know how to explain this clearly, but it feels more as if Iām in the recording studio, not in a parking lot next to a concert). I know itās being held back by my current DAC/amp setup(Iām using my laptop audio out), which is making it not sound like it should.
Have a great day!
If you wanted something warmer, thicker, and fun but still proficient, look for a deal on an ifi idsd micro black label, itās a very enjoyable experience, and is portable (to an extent lol). Used you can sometimes find them around the 400-500 range
Monās suggestion is solid. However if you want a stack (separates):
I would think they play well with a modius asgard3 from my experience with the headphones. Iāve not used them on the Asgard 3, but with a few other amps and that seems like a great stack for them.
Edit: these headphones scale at an insane level, so you will for sure hear your signal chain.
This would be pretty nice imo, would even out the aeon pretty well, would be very nice. The reason I mention the micro bl first is mainly because of the mention of wanting something portable, but if thatās no longer something needed the a3+modius is pretty excellent
Yeah they do, they work very well on higher end gear
I forgot to mention this in this forum, but I live in China and donāt speak much Chinese. It basically isolates me from the Chinese used market, in addition to restricting my access to many āwesternā products. I have unfortunately not yet found any Schiit products for sale on Taobao or Jingdong. I would love to get a Schiit stack, but I am sick of dealing with international imports(the A2Cās were stuck in customs for more than a week, and I needed to pay around 10% tax on top of the $55 shipping cost. The packaging was also opened by the cusoms officers).
Thank you for all the suggestions, though! If there are any others, please do tell.
An alternative to the micro bl portable wise might be the xduoo xd05 plus with a burson opamp (later on as an upgrade), although itās a bit of a step down quality wise and a more neutral signature compared to the micro bl, but still pretty good. If you wanted a dap, the hiby r6 pro is very solid and works well with the aeon 2 imo. Desktop amp wise you have more options, can you get a lake people g103s? You could grab that and a topping e30 and have a pretty solid desktop setup
I have not found a Lake People G103S but have found a G111. Unfortunately it is out of my budget. Would a Beyerdynamic A20 work?
I would not recommend the a20 for the aeon 2, that amp does not tend to play well with most lower impedance planars from my experience. Do you have any links where you can buy from or where you can get things? Just to see whatās out there
I found that Taobao.com requires a phone number to log in, though ai.taobao.com does work. It seems to be a desktop version of the phone app. I am currently on my phoneās Taobao app as the phone app is much more refined than the website. Additionally, the everything is in Chinese, so google translate is needed.
Ok, I found a way to search, what price range in yuan?
