Darkvoice 336SE tube rolling

Dekoni has them on their site … might have to look a little but Dekoni will have a graph of each pad they sell for your headphone. I think, from memory, the suede pads level the treble the most here. That was a welcome change for me.

Hi guys, what are some decent and cheap tubes you would suggest right now? Both power and preamp.

right now … Anything 1950-59 RCA 6AS7G power (rear tube) and grey glass RCA 6SN7GT preamp (front tube)

I looked out for those, and just to point it out I live in Italy, but the only ones I can find costs 128€.

How are the Philips 6080 WC JAN?

For the front I can’t find RCA 6sn7gt anywhere. Maybe it’s harder to find them in Europe.

The Philips 6080 JAN… depends on the year. I have one in my amp right now.

If it has a brown base (at the bottom where the pins come out) and the top mica are serrated like my photo…grab it!

Look for the Westinghouse 6sn7gt with D getter up top.

This one? 6sn7gtb # 6sn7 # Westinghouse # NOS NIB (2330) | eBay

Or maybe this one https://www.audioantiquary.com/it/westinghouse-6sn7gt/

The tall one on eBay.

You can get a pair 6sn7 on Ebay new matched pair for 40$/€ without shipping as Westinghouse tube.
The italian site is expensive i find.

It is but the shipping might get them as they live in Italy.

Perfect, I just want to ask you this. Do you know this one? If yes how do they compare? Or anyway how would you describe both of them? Thanks.

they’re both good. That Sylvania is super wide. If you like a wide soundstage then that Sylvania is what you want. The Westinghouse is more dynamic, meaning a broader representation of the music.

Ok, thank you for your knowledge. I think I will take the Sylvania and I’ll try to find a fine 6080 to pair with it. ^^

I just picked up a used DV 336SE on eBay for $168. I’m running into a situation with hum. The original stock tubes have none (Russian/Chinese mfg tubes). I picked up a NOS Sylvania 6080WC (6AS7) and a Rogers (from 1964) 6SN7. And with that pairing, I have hum in the right channel. I also have a Mullard NOS 6SN7, and it hums in the left channel. Is this likely to be something that will go away as the tubes break in? I assume there must have been hum on the stock tubes, and it went away…What’re your thoughts?

that is correct, they need some burn in time with the dark voice. usually 24 hours or so… you could plug in the preamp the 6SN7 and unplug the power, which is the back tube the one in the back take that one out and leave the one in the front on overnight and it should be good, meaning leave the amp on overnight.

Got it. Thanks.

Running my brand-new-to-me Dark Voice with my Rogers and Sylvania combo, streaming some Diana Krall off Qobuz to my Ares II to the Dark Voice on my HD660S2, and this is utterly DREAMY, apart from the right channel hum. How did I not do this 7 years ago???

I need to get the Ares II… that’s a very nice DAC. Later on when your feeling adventurous do the heat mod to the dark voice, I’ll see if I can find a link to it. It involves a little soldering but doable. It negates future hum issues when you jump into the rabbit hole of tube rolling. But yeah, Dark voice is a bang for your buck audiophile experience .

Additional questions, if I remove the 6AS7 for burning in the 6SN7, do I need to send signal? or is it a question of heat and electricity?
