Death Metal (recommendations and discussion)

I love the progressive metal side too. Im also a huge fan of dream theater. Metropolis is also a masterpiece and Mike Portnoy is probably my 2nd favorite drummer all time, next to Neil Peart.

Yeah, Dream Theater has a lot of cool tracks. I’m personally a very big fan of Arch Echo, my favorite song by theirs is probably Bocksuvfun. Other than that, Liquid Tension Experiment, Sithu Aye, Periphery, Intervals, Ghost Iris, Haken, Caligula’s Horse, Animals as Leaders and David Maxim Micic are great to listen to as well!

Also happens that Matt Garstka, from Animals as Leaders, is most probably my number 1 favorite drummer

Lately I have been listening to a band that is being declared the “Godfathers of Death Metal” from the one who is the so called Godfather of Death Metal, Chuck Schuldiner. The one and only, Death.

Possessed though

This drum part at the end of the song sound so good on the tygrs. Been playing it on repeat haha

Clandestine is the only Entombed album that really grabbed me. Good choices all around.

I’m not sure if it properly qualifies as ‘death metal’. But it’s pretty great rock music, and it’s got a skull, and a knife, and a snake, and bat wings. and it still kicks pretty hard for being over 40 years old.

Best sounding (HI-FI) metal album ever? (Make sure you don’t listen to the remaster, it is terrible.)

Very underrated band and album. A mix of death metal, grindcore, and hardcore. They’re kinda like Dying Fetus but the members are hardcore punk kids.
