DMS top 5 headphones under 500$

That is one nasty piece of shit cable. I have thought many times about getting the cable modded, but always chicken out.

The Worst feature, by far, of the Grado’s.

No, they don’t. There is S-Cush, L-Cush (painful) and G-Cush. There are also Beautiful Earpads from New Zealand, which are amazing. I am using these now and they make my GH2’s my most comfortable headphones for long term listening.

I’ve been tinkering with the T5Ps and so far, the treble filter I made out my wife’s cotton disk makeup remover is working well. It is small, thin enough to not smother the soundstage, and trims easily. There’s some other materials I’m tinkering with as I enjoy modding.

I’ve heard that many people prefer the GS1000 to the 2000 and 3000. I had a complete different experience and I liked the 3000s of all 3. I actually thought the 2000s sounded way too much like the sr325, so the price made no sense to me.

I look at headphones similarly to the way I look at music genres…I have my preferences, but can typically still find something I like even in something that doesn’t fit my preferences. For example, country and rap are the 2 genres that I enjoy the least (at least anything after 1995ish), but I love Johnny Cash and A Tribe Called Quest. I’m a classic rock metalhead, but I’m open minded enough to keep all options open.

I really feel that some of the mid to upper tier Grados would be looked on much more favorably if the prices were lower. Reason I say that is the higher priced grado headphones dont come with enough upgraded features to justify some of the prices. Sure, you get a better headband and better cup material, but the cables are still attached, the drivers arent vastly different other than better matching and different tuning. If Grado were to sell the PS500 with detachable cable and tuned them for over ear, but charged $350 instead of $500, I feel they’d double their sales.

I agree with you 100% on the beautiful audio pads. They are pricey, but they are a game changer for something like the sr325 as they do a great job in taming that upper mid peak. They are comfortable as hell too. Sylvain makes a great earpad.

You know, if you want to try some Grados that Zeos really liked, you could try both the SR60e and SR80e, both under $100. Zeos said the 60e is leaning about 10% more towards bright than neutral, whereas the 80e is leaning 25% more towards bass and warmth from neutral. They might be fun to just try out.
A lot of people don’t like the 325 from what I hear.
Not saying Zeos is always right, but again, might be fun to try. Grados are in no way at all dark from what I have been told.

I already had the 225. the whole company seems out of date. the headphone company from the past. their pads are ridiculous. no i think i’ll stear clear of Grado. besides i just got the Auteur, having fun with that

Ooooh the Auteur is amazing from what I hear. I also love the design on it, looks straight out of a John Wick or Doctor Who scene lol.

its great. its neutral and detailed. kinda like the hd600. i really like it so far

Nice!
Do you have a tube by any chance to try them on?

not yet, i ordered a Dark Voice but its not here yet

Ah okay.
A lot of people like these especially on a tube, makes them wider for sure.
