Do you wish you had an endgame headphone?

Yeah, the addition to the house has sound in mind and is going to be fully treated, and the studio designer is specing out the interior for the speakers I chose so they perform best in the room. The recording room portion is also going to be heavily treated as well. I’m glad I’m not doing it because it would work but look janky as hell

I think the Stellia is a great headphone. I personally love the design, and I’m a fan of Focal sound to begin with. I’m not looking for another closed back in the immediate future, but when i do it’s between this and the Verite Closed

I think I fell in love listening to 3ww by alt j and I could here this strumming decay into the mix in the opening with absolutely clarity.

the Stellia is a phenomenal headphone and I would love to have one…but alas, I’ll never have $4K (CAD) to buy it or something like it. heck, even the Quad ERA-1 push $1100 CAD and the wife would kill me if I were to get that anytime soon (paying down debt currently).

Yeah it takes things to a whole other level. I know some people consider Focals metallic, but they just sound incredibly clean to me

Just gunna say it imo elegia > stellia

Yeah the only reason I got it was cause my friend sold it to me for 2k cad which I had leftover from a big freelance gig earlier in the year

I thought it was Elex > Stellia, M0N?

I don’t remember saying that… But I mean

I’ve been thinking of getting the ether flow 2 open as my next headphone.
Like if I had an absolute endgame it would be my planned electrostat system

As much as I love the Elex and Clear, the leather pads on the Stellia/Utopia feel so much better to me so the comfort is a big part of my bias

What if it was the mrspeakers (now DCA) voce estat?

So to get back to your original post, I agree that endgame doesn’t have to be flagship. But most of the people on this forum will never stop once they get that headphone they’ve been eyeing all their lives. Maybe “normal” people would, but they also probably wouldn’t care about all the things discussed here either and their Bose headphones would do just fine as an endgame.

When I was younger, I ended up dating the girl of my dreams. She was funny and beautiful, and I had told myself if I ever was able to be with her that all my problems would be solved. But once the initial courtship period ended I started finding myself thinking about other women, and I began to see flaws with her that I only understood after I had dated her for a year or so. It doesn’t matter what the hobby is, you either keep pursuing that carrot just out of reach or you accept that one thing won’t be everything for all situations.

courtship? interesting…not a word used by many anymore. kudos! long courtship, short engagement.

“Most” is pretty strong lol, and this is a more bang for buck oriented form, but I could somewhat agree. This happens in other hobbies as well

But I feel like I perhaps fall into that category as well lol

I’m with M0N on that comment. if anything, ‘most’ will continue to buy and try headphones in a similar price range as that’s what they can realistically afford. and if there’s something we all know about headphones, each one excels at something others don’t, so there’s always going to be a different flavor of sound.

PC hardware enthusiast here: You have no idea!

PC hardware reseller…yes I do!

what you buy is obsolete before it’s shipped!

Writing from work, so not as eloquent as I would have liked. And my current girlfriend would definitely not enjoy being referred to as being a hobby of mine. Wasn’t my intention. But my point in general was that the grass is always greener if you want to keep looking, regardless of what your interests may be
