Great photo!
Thanks, John!
Maybe a little? I don’t see what you’re getting at though. It’s a reflection
hmm, it kinda looks more “wavy” than the reflection on the right to me. Or maybe its the little extra glare (light) on the left of it that makes it stand out more.
Brother, it must be a slow day in Sweden or something yeah, the light source was on the left side of the frame, most likely why it’s causing a little bit of ghosting on the highlights.
Haha when your usual pics are absolute perfection, anything less will stick out more.
Fair fair, I appreciate that
Don´t get fooled, all of the shots in the review are fantastic!
They definitely are!
Nice one Dom! I appreciate the great photos and the TLDR… Goldfish brain here
These are definitely on my to-try list.
You’ve tried the Dunu DK3001BD too right? How do they compare? Both seem like sets that punch above their weight class in the techs department.
Thanks for stopping by, brother!
I’d say that I preferred my listening time with the Cantors over the BDs. I think, from memory, that the bass was a bit better on the BDs; had more bounce, depth and character to it, but everything else goes to the Cantors. I much preferred the vocal presentation of the Cantors, it’s a little on the relaxed side and not so much forced. The treble is in a completely different league as well. Just as detailed, maybe even more so, without sounding unnatural or harsh. It had that special sauce too it for sure.
Finally got around to publishing my AFUL P5+2 review. This set is pretty good… nothing market-breaking, but here’s the TLDR;
The impressively hyped Aful P5+2 has a few really good things going for it. I think the price is literally right on the money, undercutting the offerings from Ziigaat and Thieaudio well. The impressive driver count + the cohesion they were able to accomplish is a successful feat in my humble opinion. The unboxing experience is another positive nod - the included cable is 100,000% better than anything Ziigaat is stuffing in their boxes. The overall design and build quality is more than great, although, no nozzle lip absolutely destroys my will to live… I haven’t had any issues with tips falling off so, I guess it isn’t the biggest deal in the world. Still. Just put a small little plastic lip there, god dammit
The sound can be summed up like this;
Safe, but not too safe. Some elements can be pretty exciting given the right circumstances and song, the warm tilted atmosphere, and well-done mids + the layering lend to an enjoyable IEM. But the slightly strange and off-putting timbre in some cases and forgettable treble tuning with a bass that’s lacking in texture and depth do make me want to put the P7s down and not look for them any longer. If I wanted a laid-back and warm tuning, I’d save $100 and go for the little brother of the Aful family, the Explorers and if I want kick-ass mids with lovely vocals, I’ll snag the Magic Ones and call it a day.
At the end of the day, I was being too harsh on the P7s in my initial listen and I’m happy I allowed myself to give them another shot.
Thanks to everyone for reading along with me and watching as I find my way around the sound of this IEM, I hope the newer format with more in-depth musical references made a little bit more sense and added more context to why I’m saying what I’m saying!
Take care, till next time!
Great summary and as always amazing shots! Thanks for sharing Dom!
“Still. Just put a small little plastic lip there, god dammit ”
Love it bang on review!
You killed it! Dom.
Those are some lovely shots, the colours are mesmerizing!
Great review! The no nozzle lip is such a small thing but so annoying haha.
Looking forward to more of your impressions!
Thanks so much, everyone! I wasn’t a fan of these pics but I guess they worked out for the most part
Wow, this has been a great year for IEMs. Those are the last year releases you didn’t have time to get to, and those would have nearly been a top 3 list the previous year.
Also, good god man, those photos are amazing.
