Aaa
hmm
Like that? Kinda makes it look blurry/foggy?
along with manual vs. auto, focus becomes much more consistent unless you’re trying to shoot something like race cars at speed…then the FujiFilm bodies probably aren’t the best.
Yes, sir, exactly. It gives it a dreamy effect. It’s a ‘look’ lol it’s not to be used on every single photo you take but it can give your shots an almost vintage effect to it. There’s a way to do it with photoshop, the strat. that I use, but it doesn’t come out as nice as it does with the actual filters imo.
@Oumuamua well, like I said, in good lighting the focus is fairly decent. I’m sure the newer bodies are much better, they have to be or Sony and Canon are going to each their lunch, but fast shooting has never been Fuji’s strong suit, which is fine. It’s not what they’re made for.
cool.
This video really helps make sense of the sony lineup.
And here I thought their audio names was bad…
HA There are so many models in their line up. It’s insane. I lost track a while ago if I’m honest.
And yes, it’s semi-okay. There is a very thin layer of glass over the sensor that protects the actual light gathering photosites called the anti aliasing filter. It tries to stop Moiré from happening. However, if you ruin that little piece of glass, you are screwed. I’ve never took the chance. It’s much better to just use a small rocket dust blower to get dust off. If a finger print happens, which shouldn’t but I get accidents happen, then use a solution like this after getting all dust and debris off FIRST;
Does the same advice go for the lenses?
Kind of - The lens is just glass, HOWEVER, there are coatings on the front and rear element of the lens for various reasons, NEVER use alcohol on your lens as it could damage the coatings which can never be reapplied in a convenient way.
Always use a rocket blower to get dust off and then lightly clean in a circular motion starting in the middle then gradually going to the outer most part.
I just have to ask because you guys know your s**t.
My daughter loves to go to concerts and I am curious what you guys would suggest for that type of setting. Everyone uses their phones usually but was wondering if you guys would suggest/recommend something better for that type of dark scenario.
The cool thing about concerts is that the stage is usually really well lit, so, you should be fine with any camera that uses an APS-C sized sensor and a wider aperture lens (like 2.8 or faster).
Is the stock mic usually good enough (better than smartphones) or needs a separate external mic?
Depends on what you’re doing, sir. If you’re just doing a POV video indoors or something along those lines, you should be fine mostly. But anything else, you probably want to invest in a small wireless mic kit.
Just curious, as I mentioned before I RARELY use video even on my phones.
Well then. Last few sleeps before heading out to NY for my 3rd CanJam. I’m pretty damn excited right now, boys, I can’t lie. I’m at a good place when it comes to the hobby right now, I’m not in a lull like I was last year, which caused me to skip like 90% of the booths and miss out on a ton of IEMs and sources.
This year, I have it in mind to try out as much as I possibly can. With every year, I gain more experience and more knowledge when it comes to the hobby but also my preferences. Last year, every IEM I tried started to sound the exact same to me and after a while, boredom kicked in and I actually ended up leaving and grabbing a slice of pizza down the street and didn’t come back for a few hours. I don’t think that’ll happen this year, though. I’m ready to try out as many things as possible!
With that being said, as I typically do, if there are any IEMs and/or sources you’d like me to try out an report back on, please let me know. I plan on bringing my camera this year as well, so expect an abundance of beauty shots from the show.
Looking forward to all the recs you guys have for me!
Looking forward to your reports and I hope that you have a slammin’ time!
Thank you, Guy! I’m hoping it isn’t too cold out! haha
Got a powerbank with you?
Edit:
Got my A6100! Charging it atm, do you have any recommendations on batteries? Stick with the (VERY expensive) stock Sony batteries or go with 3rd party (like 1/3rd of the price or less lol)?
do you keep a usual reset set with you to ‘recalibrate’ your brain between listens or every few hours? Listening fatigue is real.
Yes sir! I made the mistake the last 2 years of not bringing one, but I have one this year. It’s a nice one, too. It has MagSafe for my phone and two outputs @ 22.5 W for charging my BTR17. It also outputs enough power to use Desktop mode on the BTR17 as well… I thought it through it this year lol
And, me personally, I use 3rd party batteries for all of my cameras. I always have. They have less capacity than the branded ones most of the time, but I can buy 3 or 4 batteries with a charging doc for the price of one Nikon battery… screw that lol I assume it’s the same for Sony.
100%, listening fatigue at these shows is as real as it gets. I do bring my Monarchs with me to help my ears reset. Im also bringing the Titans to compare bass quality this year too. Doing A/B comparisons is kind of tough considering how many people are waiting in line for certain booths but I’ll do my best.
Yeah that is the case with sony and what other people have mentioned. The 3rd party ones ranges VERY widely though, some from like 20 usd and some 60 usd while original is around 100 usd. How much would you spend?
looking forward to your thoughts on the 3 crinears
