Ohh I got recs for CanJam NY! I won’t be attending this year (big campout with the kiddo that I might miss), but I’m aiming for next year! There’s a TON of gear I’d want to hear:
Try the Lime Ears stuff! If you want to review them, I can send them your way! Marris, Terra and Incognito - all fantastic!
The Elysian Apostle is a MUST-TRY too!
Don’t miss those new Truthear IEMs! (Pure and Blue 2? YES PLEASE!)
Musiktech booth - SO MANY THINGS to try there! You could probably spend a whole day just geeking out at their setup!
The Softears x Musiktech collab is super interesting, and check out that Flipears Legion!
Now for Bloom - you’ve GOT to try the new 7th Acoustic Supernova prototype that’ll be there. It’s going to be epic!
And definitely hit up that Effect Audio x Tanchjim collab!
Also DC Elite is a little overrated.
Have fun! Hope this gives you some awesome ideas to make the most of your CanJam adventure!
Edit* I forgot, Crin’s label will be there! Pretty exciting, multiple stuff to try there.
First darker pic is the 6100 and the second brighter one is the 5V.
Curious as to why its so much brighter despite both being set to ISO 6400 and shutter speed 1/250
Looking at the file on my phone and it says that the pic on the 5V used F/1.9 6.08mm while the 6100 is F/3.5 16mm. Also wondering why the 5V captured more of the top/bottom parts but im guessing its just due to the aspect ratio difference? (5V = 4:3 and 6100 = 3:2)
Edit:
Damnnnn, this one is no contest. The Xperia 5V is way grainier looking but looks like i could get it to focus a bit closer despite 48mm vs 50mm.
You may be able to get away with just using extension tubes for these types of shots - should be cheaper. Raynox adapters are still a cool piece of kit to pick up though.
I think I went with 2 Nikon Batteries plus the docking charge for like $40 on Amazon and I haven’t had any issues at all with the operation of the camera or the capacity of the batteries if I’m honest.
Also, I knew the first shot was with the A6100… look at that blotchy mess in the shadows on the Phone photo hahaha
I also forgot to react to this; don’t forget that focal length between two different sensor sizes will give you drastically different perspectives. and overall FOV/DOF.
everything is a little overrated if we’re being real. I remember trying cans like sennheiser 650 & focal clears after trawling through a bunch of reviews/impressions and thinking “that’s it ??? ”
^^^ ﹪that…I now roll with having zero expectations even if there is hype or glowing reviews etc and just let my ears decide as they’re only accountable to me, my library and my wallet
Say hi to Aries! You don’t have to say I sent you but if you end up enjoying Aegis and Legion and want to put it to more critical listening, you on the list!
Yes and yes. (Sensor size directly effects perspective and DOF)
The good thing about having a camera with an APS-C sized Sensor on a very very popular platform is that you have an abundance of 3rd party glass that you don’t have to spend too much on.
Nikon Z mount glass for full frame is so weak it’s pitiful. The Canon M mount is even worse, but that’s because Canon wasn’t allowing 3rd parties to manufacture lenses on that mount but that’s a different conversation all together.
That 7Artisans brand is fantastic. I can’t stress that enough. For $100, that’s a banger lens with an equivalent focal length of 65mm on APS-C or, a great focal length for macro stuff. If you want true 1:1 reproduction, a 105mm with a minimum focusing distance of about 6-10 inches is ideal, but, I’m just rambling at this point. You don’t need to worry too much about that stuff. And having a macro lens with manual focus only is actually really nice because you’re going have a mechanical connection to the elements in the lens rather than a fly-by-wire focusing system, which, for macro stuff is not ideal.
For you, the lens is your best bet if you’re cool with learning and getting comfortable with manual focus.
For me, when the least expensive macro lens that’s native to the Z mount is almost $1000, the extension tubes are the way to go.
