Dom Q’s spot - IEMs and Photography

Yeah, man, super easy. They seemed like they wanted pics to post on their Instagrams and whatnot, so I was inclined to oblige.

When you say MSEB, are you referring to that tech that Hiby has? If so, I agree. Some DSP or PEQ and I bet you could achieve whatever coloration you’d want but according to Questyle, it looks like it’s a physical tuning that’s creating the differences… now how would they do that, I wonder.

Anyways, I loved the Blue my self so I’m excited to open them up.

Yeah i am referring to that Hiby function as i strapped my M15i to my Hiby DAP and Imagine this to have a very similar effect with even more flexibility but i think every basic eq could achieve those new tunings

Only thing that would would be if they have switches that can adjust the output impedance…but even then it is not always the same result on the iem…

That is a dope little setup. Iove it. I was thinking of getting a slightly less expensive DAP and hooking up one of my dongles to it just to save some cash. How do you feel about your setup? Is it too cumbersome?

@Rikudou_Goku right… strange stuff. If anyone could chime in on this it’d be you so the fact that you’re stumped as well leads me to believe this is some audiophile hobby nonsense.

Could also be some physical eq, kinda like what these do.

But instead of a knob that you can adjust, it probably does it like set presets.

That’s a really good Idea, i Had the same idea to get another cheaper DAP for other dongle shenaningans as i don’t want to touch this setup anymore its perfect as is.

I think it mostly depends on how it is executed, in my specific case it is not cumbersome at all, let me Show you some pics .

I used a self adhesive metal plate to stick on the backside of my DAP and in Combination with that dongle pouche’s magnetic force the Connection is rock solid an i am much more flexible with positioning of the pouch compared to those metal rings where you really need to find the perfect allignment.

The two small magnets on the 4.4 socket also help for it to stay in place….i still moved a little so i also superglued it to the pouch.

Here’s another dongle upcycling to actually use them again. Now i can easily swap my two favourite dongles depending on mood/syngergy even though they are not that different.

I also found an old phone and already prepared it with a metal plate but still waiting for microusb to usb-c adapter from Ali , this will be another fun little setup

Those are the metal plates, i always have them in house now together with different kinds of magnets and used it a lot already

I also ordered this DAP for one of my nephews so i can soon report on it and maybe get one for myself.

Specs for that price are crazy

Haha thanks, the execution is actually super easy you only need some good ideas and the right material

And yeah bluetack is great and also a very good solution to marry two devices, it’s Just not as easy to swap them

Dude, this is so badass. Thanks for so many detailed pics + a little walkthrough.

I don’t see myself going through something like this on my own, so having smart DiY folks like you around the forums is sick :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I can relate and sympathise. I actually have an eye for detail allowing me to spot all sorts of imperfections (misalignments etc) that others need specialised equipment for to notice but have two right hands (I’m left handed so the other way around would actually be a godsend  ).

Over the next few days/weeks I’m going to be having a bunch of new drops so be prepared lol

The new Waners got to me and got to me FAST.

Very good looking in person with a beautiful cable to boot. Unfortunately the cable is pretty tangly and there’s no chin slider which is a big bummer for me.

Otherwise first impressions are positive, they’re warm and smooth across the board. I’ll do some more listening tonight for sure when I have my hands on more tips to do some rolling at a desk.

Sorry, couldn’t resist…

Damn This thing sounds pretty impressive, even with my diva C12. I Like the syngergy better than with my R6III

Main issues only 3.5 out (more of a convenience issue)

And only Android volume steps when using the physical Buttons.

No physical Skip track Buttons.

RAM Management is pretty aggressive so No playing arround while listening to music otherwise Tidal will just be Shut down lol but for streaming it works perfectly fine and its very responsive within Tidal

For that money not much to complain so far.

It’s impressive what you can get for so little money now a days. If we were sensible human beings, us audiophiles, a lot of us wouldn’t be so broke.

Now, I’ll be on my way to have my brain examined

Ask if they can see the ‘burn in’ while they’re at it

Even in my drunken audiophile state, I know burn in is a bunch of malarkey :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Tonight consisted of me losing my mind trying to hear a difference between the two new M15i models from Questyle. I will say, though, after about an hour or so of A/B testing in a very scientific way, I have finally come to something of a conclusion that I will spare this chat for now. Long story short: blue is a touch warmer, purple is a touch more airy. They both sound great for the most part, but adding PEQ to the OG M15i would have made the most sense in my opinion.

However. I am a big fan of the blue…

Always. Happy listening tonight, gentlemen
