Don't care about home theater audio?

Just noticed everyone really cares about their TV audio for movies etc. Except me? I’m kinda happy with the speaker from my cheap 2010 TV. I just use my headphones and speakers for music, anyone else?
Is TV audio just as important for you as music?
I would like to add that I generally don’t watch movies so maybe that’s why

Oh noooo, enjoying a good movie at home is important to me. I’m heavily invested in my home and it’s where i relax and enjoy the fruit of my labors. I also have a tendency to nap while watching movies so i want a comfortable place to do it. I set up both my tv rooms so that i can enjoy them. One also does double duty for music…

I care but here is the problem, when you’re broke as hell sometimes you just need to settle with the things you currently have. I am just using a Fantech G202 Hellscreams as my speakers, when I need to watch something with decent enough sounds coming out.

I think most people hook up speakers to tv’s for movies more than tv.

Damn this should be in the current endgame snapshots thread lol actually might be there considering how long it would take to find it in like 300 responses tho it’s hard to know

Yeah I guess to have the theater expirience. I mean I get it just was wondering if besides movies there was another major reason

That probably is one of the important “needs” before going home theater.
Many get them movies, maybe games and with good front speakers. Even music.
There literally was a topic about this like yesterday.

For me I wear headphones when I watch movies and then I do have a set 99$ edifiers for speakers if I want to use them. I just don’t like to be an annoying neighbor if I owned a house in the woods I would have the largest sub and speaker set up

Nope, movies and video games, i don’t have cable anymore. I stream what i want or use blue ray. I have a 4k tv and receiver i just haven’t bothered to pull either out of their boxes to install them yet. One of the 2 rooms is due for a major upgrade soon, to include furniture and re-mounting of components, just don’t care enough to make the final investments needed yet. Been playing with headphones the past few months and have not been watching as many movies. Also, i am starting to hit the point of diminishing returns pretty much across the board. Iv’e had a chance to listen to multiple high end high dollar systems and that extra little bit just doesn’t make a difference to me at this point now that i really know whet the extra bit sounds like and how much extra it costs to achieve it. Fortunately i have reached “good enough” nirvana and i can enjoy the stuff i do have in hand for a long time to come. :hugs:

2010 TVs have fine speakers.
It’s the dearth of new ultra thin tvs that sound like garbage

Some of the new Sony’s that have the soakers on the sides of the TV actually aren’t bad

I used to have 2 5.1 setups in my house, I replaced the one in my living room with a sound bar for convenience, it’s a difficult space to hide wires and my wife hated them.
I really don’t care about the audio for my general TV watching, I rarely pay attention to it anyway.
I stream everything now, but I do have a large DVD and Laser Disk collection ~1000 disks, I enjoy watching movies to the extent that I have a dedicated space for it, that 5.1 isn’t going anywhere. I also use it for occasional gaming.
But if your not watching the content there is no point.

Some of them also have vibrating screens too. Hell apparently many of the new ultra short throw laser projectors have harmon kardon speakers built in

My film collection is at 1600 blurays. Finding the space is so hard

Jose, folks spend sooo much building themselves dedicated rooms, i have a neighbor that has over $250K soaked into his HT room and he is always upgrading new technology. It’s never ending game, to each their own. Once in a while i’ll go over and have a beer w/him and enjoy his theater, it’s really really nice but it costs 1/3 of what my entire house cost me. Ie. it’s beyond my personal means and beyond my personal current desires. It is nice to have friends with really nice toys tho, helps get it out of my own system. If you don’t care about staying home to watch the latest or older movies, just enjoy going out and getting the full experience there. Hell even i go out and splurge on the fancy movie theater with the reclining seats a few times a year, it’s a great date night, especailly when i don’t manage to nap through half the film…:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Yeah I’m done with physical media collecting.
Streaming has it’s issues, but being able to find what I want to watch has it’s merits.
I was terrible with CD’s and DVD’s, I’d find what I wanted to watch then take the disk out of the player and swap it with that disk… So finding anything was an excercise in tracking back through my recent play list until you found the disk.

While I’m okay with music streaming, outside of TV media streaming is dire. Netflix has no selection. Amazon has eh selection Disney plus is mostly crap or junk food. Hulu doesn’t exist in canada. Criterion channel is a supplement more than a replacement.
Finding things like international or obscure or extreme fringe cinema is hard in the vod space and I vastly prefer my home video collection because its curated and specific and nobody can just take it away like with streaming

Also the quality of the blueray vs streaming too

That especially. Also the compression of 4k content in streaming is utterly dire too.

haha man $250K, that’s pretty deep in. Yeah ive seen some other ones from the guys here or steve guttenberg interviewing guys with insane systems. It really is a never ending game. Yeah must be sick going there once in a while for movies
