Douk U2 pro with upgraded clocks - need explanation

The regular ifi power thing is a pretty good improvement over any old ac adapter.

I just got the one with the std clocks and a p50 power supply connected to topping e50 and it made a massive difference.
I bought a hifiman EF400 and after switching between the 2, I prefer the topping with the douk.
I’m now in the process of buying cables to try the douk with the ef400.
smoother, cleaner, better separation.

Yeah, I’ve upgraded my dac to SMSL D2, so now it works with my U2 pro via I2S. No LPS for now to power it properly. Even without it, there is an obvious difference in liquidity, depth and bass texture
I’ve tried all my 4 USB cables with it for input and I definitely prefer SKW OCC cable, because it just highlights this mesmerising bass texture the most, and sounds as smooth as pure silver one, although not as holographic as that silver cable. It already sounds as smooth as vinyl to me. I guess the next big step from this is using Singxer SU-6 and S/PDIF input from pc as someone suggested, to ditch USB completely

trying the IFI ipower X with the U2 pro, does seem a bit better than straight USB into my X16

Smaller better built alternative?

Interesting. I would love to hear how the SMSL unit does.

initial impressions vs the cheapest U2 pro option, PO100 is winning although it does cost a bit more, higher end U2 pro’s might be a different story

Very good to know. Thank you!

I have a PO100Pro on the way. Should be here tomorrow. I’m glad I stumbled upon this thread. I’ve been looking for a cheap upgrade from my Douk U2 Pro to something that supports DSD512 over I2S. Amazon calls this device a DAC and not a DDC so I never came across this SMSL unit. I use HQPlayer to great effect in my system and it sounds glorious at DSD256. The Douk brought things into focus whether it was DSD or PCM, with and without HQPlayer, and using a PS Audio Stellar DAC, and a Topping D70s DAC with SparkOS op-amp upgrade. I’m curious what DSD512 might bring to the table.

Welcome! This is a great place to find and share information. Good luck with your new DDC.

I still cannot get above 24/192khz over coax.
using windows driver that shows as HIFI DSD
I know it works as the eval xmos driver works perfectly but only lasts a while and then you get the buzz every 5 mins,
Anyone have a solution for this as i really love what it does.

how would you get higher that’s the max audio spec for coax?

hmm, good point. The only reason i say it is because with the evaluation driver i can play dsd 64, as the dsd light on the douk comes on and obviously the dsd file plays. I did not check the bitrate at which it was playing though. I will check this

Bought the U2 Pro the other day for about $60 from their official site (they have a discount for a first purchase) after my trusty SMSL PO100 finally died.
These things are truly a godsend for when, for example, you have active speakers with their own DSP. Feed them digital, let them do the work.

Anyway, it’s great, I’m only using the S/PDIF out because that’s all I need but it’s an instant recommend for me.
Only thing I’d add, I’ve had some trouble with WASAPI event with 24/192 files but switching to WASAPI push solved the issue immediately (and then later on I realized I never installed the XMOS driver they provided but rather used the one I’d already had for my SMSL DAC. once I installed the driver they provided, WASAPI event works fine)

po100pro is worth it over the base u2 imo
better build, less sketchy, imo better sound
