My 2 cents before I climb back into my hole… That’s like saying there are thousands of STD’s out there and chlamydia is no where the worst…

I love rap music my guy. and I am usuallly one to defend beats when they are getting absolutely trashed but I cant at all defend any of the higher end beats offerrings especially the studio models

We shall agree to disagree

Have you missed the battles I’ve had with some of these fuckers who insist it’s not the genre I don’t like, but the people who listen to it?

Ya don’t say?

Feel free to ignore me, as I can be a bit of an ass sometimes, particularly with the time of year we’re getting into.

Beats, to me at least, aren’t something I will ever buy. Not to say they are terrible, against something I can get from Dollar Tree or a generic brand from WalMart, but against other options in their price range? They are soundly beaten.

Pun not intended.

I mean… studio + wireless… enough said lol.
People would not even dare to call the Pandas studio headphones.

For Beats… Sound quality is not there. Sorry man, we’re not here to find ā€œnot the worstā€. Most people come here to think and talk and dream about their endgame. The minimum here is, at least, a ā€œwowā€ factor. Something like impressive soundstage, impressive detail, impressive bass or treble extension, or both. Or at least, something that looks great, made with good materials, not crackling plastic. Beats has none of that.

Yeah, I get it, cheap Beats are ā€œokā€ for cheap headphones. But life is too short for ā€œokā€ headphones.

A couple years ago, I worked a for a few months in a friend’s electronics store. Sometimes people would bring broken stuff and we would try to fix it for a little money to try and keep the clients happy. I remember this guy bringing a Beats headphone and said to us that one channel wouldn’t work. So we opened it to see if there was a loose cable and saw the interior and the driver. Now imagine that you go your local dollar store and get a plastic toy, a very cheap one, that’s how the Beats looked inside, awfully finished and after fixing it ( it was the cable thankfully) we tried it and remember that it sounded awful, the retail price was 200 euros. Our most sold headphone, the Senn hd 201 was 25 euros and was waaay better than that piece of crap.
Even if beats manufactured now the best audiophile cans I would NEVER buy anything from them, that how much I abhorred them and their shady products.

Even this low quality picture, you can make out how worn down the mold is.

The cost cutting is mind boggling when you forget who owns them…

Compared to the inside of a Hilti SF 8M-A22

That mold is in 100% shape and was made by people who care.

Apple fans: Oh, but Apple only puts out the BEST products! They wouldn’t put out anything sub-par!
Apple: Puts out iPhone 6s, knowing they are making it more fragile
Also Apple: Only a small percent of users… Apple speak for, it’s not the product’s fault, it’s the user’s

First I will quote the first line from myself since it seems to be something that everyone is harping on, ā€œI’m not advocating for Beatsā€.

I own a lot of headphones, and to be honest, I’ve never experienced wow. The reality is 789 Amps, Ladder DACS, $400 headphones all have produced less than expected performance gains and only marginal differences, under specific circumstances, noticeable tangible listening experience enhancement only evedent for very short moments. I come from a musical background so Headphones will never approach Live Instruments or an array of speakers in a properly tuned room. My marginal rate of satisfaction has not scaled with price. I find my Fidelio x2 and HD6XX great around the house and my SHP9500s great on the road and gaming the M&O Beryllium are great closed back and wireless, and for IEMs the westone W4 have lasted a few years. All the other Fostex, Monoprice 1060C, PSBs, Sony, Bose, etc, Sivga, Hifiman, either expensive or cheap have been meh but not terrible, even the beats that I’ve heard. I’m concerned with no direct comparisons, the Panda’s will be the same, nothing special.

I’m not trying to build a wall of headphones like Zeos, but I’m getting there.

By far the biggest improvement to my listening experience has been aquiring better source material. High bitrate / lossless reproductions of better masters is what has made a difference.

Just curious, have you tried any of the higher end or flagship setups before?

No, when I saw how small a difference there was between a $60 SHP9500s with Velour pads and $400 HD650s my interest kind of went to DACS and Amps.

Interesting, what dac amps have you tried on the 650? And also have you tried a tube amp?

789 amp, DACS aune S6, Aris?, smsl m10, Soundblaster E5, Xduoo P2, LG V50. NO Tubes yet. Looking at the Xduoo hybrid tubes.

If you want the most change, I would suggest looking into the darkvoice 336se or the little dot mk2, great amps at a great price that will really change the 650, a pretty nice setup

I mostly listen to headphones. That changes things.
-Got sick of 5$ disposable headphones, bought 50$ Sennheiser open-backs ā€œoh wow, I can hear everything!ā€ (…or so I thought)
-Bought 100$ closed-backs allegedly going down to 7hz ā€œoh wow, I can hear bass with that! I could not before!ā€ (…or so I thought)
-Bought 150$ Fostex T50RP planarsā€¦ā€œoh wow, I can hear bass with that! I could not before! And that’s what they call ā€œsoundstageā€ !ā€ (…and if something produces more bass, I don’t want to know, I had to get rid of some of it, lol).
-Bought 200$ Sennheiser HD58X: ā€œOh wow, so smooth, it feels like I’m there, sufficient soundstage and I don’t need to concentrate to hear anything!ā€

My next step is ā€œdetail monstersā€ to hear more of ā€œthe room acousticsā€ and the little details in… everything. That’s the ā€œwow factorā€ I miss.

Even if Zeos says he can hear the difference between DACs with THX stuff, some people say it sounds too ā€œclinicalā€. If nothing ā€œwowsā€ you with this amp, maybe you’re not ā€œthat kind of audiophileā€, and even a 100$ JDS Labs Atom or 100$ Schiit Heresy could be better for you.

Wow moments have more to do with how I’m feeling that day and just so happen to be listening to the right music and using the right gear at the time in all honesty.

Way too much parameters, just enjoy the music

What I do most of the time. I’m the type to groove and Bob my head In public to the beat.

I just took offence to the fact that whilst not saying it, inferring to a lot of people on here as ā€œHifi snobsā€.

I’m more offended that it’s after people said they hated beats and it’s not a fair comparison more specifically one of the only models of beats that didn’t improve. When the people who stated it also love $15-$30 headphones or in my case like $4 iems
