Anyone tried Fiio FF3 or FF5? I am having Yincrow x6 now, does the upgrade worth spending much more guys ?
Reading through some of that post, with some earbuds in my ears for the first time in a minute, after focusing on some IEM DIY’ing, it is pretty jarring how good earbuds are when you let your brain and ears get used to them. If they were better for on-the-go for me, they’d make IEMs obsolete.
But in the end, there’s a use-case for everything.

With a change to a lower-density foam, it is embarrassing how competitive the $8-10 FAEAAL Iris 2.0 is to $100 IEMs

I gotta pick up a pair of the 2.0s for sure. The 1.0s aren’t the best Bud without EQ unfortunately but they are definitely better than the $8 asking price.

The 2.0s needed EQ too but my biggest problem with them was some squishiness caused by a lack of upper-mid/treble energy. The lower-density foams let more upper range energy through and they got so much cleaner.

How’s the low end with those lower density foams?
Still there, but cleaner. If the bud has less bass it would get a little limp, but the Iris’ always had some heft to them, so taking a little edge off of the low end isn’t that bad
That’s good to hear - I’m going to give ‘em a shot. Along with the FAAEAL snow lotus - I honestly have no idea how they sound but they’re $10, can’t hurt to try!
I would not recommend that one. All the irises sounds better to me.

ctmarvelous, I have all 3 - FF3, FF5, and X6 - and I think it’s absolutely worth the extra money for the Fiio models. Especially the FF3! I tried all of the usual suspects under $20, including the Yincrow, and discovered I enjoyed earbuds more than IEMs, so I decided to give the FF3 a shot after seeing so many positive reviews on Head-Fi. It has turned me into a Bud Head (is that the correct term?) and I have now bought several other sets on the expensive side. So maybe DON’T try the FF3, if you need money. 
Although, I could be quite satisfied with just that one pair. It fits the best of all the 20 or so pair I’ve tried, and it has my favorite bass quantity. The X6 are no slouch in that department, but the FF3 are definitely better in my opinion.

Agreed.
I also have all 3 sets and out of them - the FF3 is probably closer to an upgrade from the X6 - the FF5 is a brighter and much more balanced jack of all trades tuning. Great bud but really serves a different purpose.
IMHO Rikubuds provide a better like for like direct upgrade to the X6 (They are also a little cheaper than the FF3).
The FF3 though does deserve the praise it gets especially at its price point - it really is quite a unique and engaging bud.
