You would spend time in bed, but come on, listening to music would be the last thing to do in your mind (unless your tired to hell GF would evolve to an angel)
There we go! Enjoy brother! Now that’s a fantastic pairing and it won’t break the bank.
Man, I love my Monarchs. I am both looking forward to your thoughts and also terrified I’m hoping you enjoy them as much as I do. From what I’ve seen from other reviewers, it’s either S tier or B tier at best.
Oh yeah
To my ears, the Monarch has more bass than it graphs, which is why I’m always wondering what the others are hearing - lean mid bass? Not to my ears. It’s full and textured with deep sub bass.
Let us know when you get them, Thomas Bang
Nope, I have a desktop bluetooth amp/dac combo that I stream to from my phone when listening in bed and not wanting to use a DAP for whatever reason. I actually have more than one capable of doing this, but I use my SMSL M500 for it most often and it’s generally the one I leave plugged in on my nightstand. I also have several cable extensions to plug into depending on what pair of IEMs, earbuds, or headphones I’m using and whether their cable is terminated in 3.5, 4.4, 2.5, XLR, etc. It’s a very convinient way to listen in bed and you can expand it quickly with a more powerful amp if looking to listen to something harder to drive. I highly recommend it if you’re like me and basically listen to music 24/7.
Mine has her own bedside setup!
Both of us have trouble with insomnia and find it easier to sleep when listening to music, audiobooks, podcasts, etc. Basically, it just gives us each the ability to listen to whatever we want if we’re having problems sleeping and it works out pretty nicely.
Yes you are: everyone knows you can’t have those things in your bedroom because you can’t change track
I said BT for a reason
If you can find a bt desktop dac/amp that can make fwd/back, I could be very interested
If you use ur phone/dap as a source… You only have to press next. Just like Qudelix and others.
This is very interesting little device which can serve as BT, WiFi and local files streamer, directly as audio player or as a DAC, but also made with some questionable design choices like having headphone output in the back and being strictly balanced.
With my phone/tablet, going next reaquires to unfold the protection and light up the screen => too complicated and bright. I want/have to change tracks while staying in the dark.
I am quite an arse on that particular subject, and my use case is special, I’m aware of that. But I won’t compromise anyway.
U can use remote control on amp, but yeah, i feel you got it figured out
My only way of salvation right now is finding either a dongle with this functionalities (quite rare) or using a bt dongle like btr7 or q5K and accepting to pay for thing that won’t ever be used (namely bt and battery).
Why wouldnt you use BT in bed? Seems like the best way! Or tws
Jumping in a little late but yes, I bought the G5 on release to power my TGXEar Alpha and it has been great!
It powers everything I throw at it with room to spare, sounds great, and works well. It is a little bit big for something portable but it’s great for when I’m on a business trip or just when I’m working out of the house and want better quality sound than my MBP can provide (ie: at a WeWork or a cafe something). And it doesn’t hog a usb slot on my computer which is great, since my laptop only has 2. It’s like having desktop dac/amp level performance on the go.
Not great for the actual process of traveling (like on an airplane or bus) but for that, I have UTWS5 hooked up to whatever IEM I have at the time.
One consideration with the q5k is that it bypasses the battery when at the preferred charge in usb mode and you can turn off the lighting for buttons.
Just wanted to say that, after no earbuds for a month or two, I busted out my Rikubuds Grand Riders while doing yard work today, and I had a blast going through two Stooges albums while doing so (Fun House and Raw Power). What a great set!
I’m so excited to get my Serratus I wish they were here now
