Earbuds Discussion Thread

Oof DAMN, for $250 I can’t argue - that is a really great value.

If you want Bluetooth, then Qudelix + adapter (I’ve used this).
If you want under 60 USD, VE MEGATRON (no Bluetooth)
I can’t comment on more expensive DAC/amps

Right? I’m grabbing one so I can use buds out of my desk. I’m life-proofing my audio for when that baby comes.

You better prepare for getting mobile, my friend. The patented hold, light back tap, and last but not least light bounce from the knees routine to get the little one :joy:

Life does strange circles.

I used to be 100% mobile. After that I sold all my daps and most of my portable amps.

Now I’m selling some of my desktop gear, replacing others and buying portable gear again.

Life is what it is, I guess!

Strange thing, isn’t it? Hell - next year, you might be selling all your IEMs to go closed back cans - who the hell knows anymore?! :smiling_face_with_tear:

That I seriously doubt.

I’m one crown jewel away from walking into the sun with the rest of my collection. Just need to decide between two sets :see_no_evil:

Way to leave us hanging!

Oh boy - the classic Nymz move - leave us abandoned right after he says he’s deciding between two sets :joy: which two are they?! I need answers, dammit!

Also, just did some short research on the G5 - duuuuuude - damn. That thing looks seriously legit. I never even considered it if I’m honest, the $300 price tag may have thrown me off but at $250, it looks like I should of done a tad bit of a research before I pulled the trigger on the BTR7. Oh well - it looks to be significantly bigger, so more of a desktop/portable in the sense of hotel visits and long rides kind-of-thing which is not what I was looking for. The portability of the BTR7 is what for me, I suppose. Maybe in a few months the G5 may be in my sights? I appreciate you shedding some light on that thing for me.

Well that looks slick!

It’s actually heavy, I feel like carrying two phones whenever I’m on my office desk. I can’t just put in my pocket because it’s bulky enough when strapped with my 6’1 phone otherwise my pants will slide down haha.

But worth the quality I guess when listening while working, average listening time for me is around 7-8 hours straight.

Edit: nevermind, I’m an idiot…

@Kamron_Howard as @domq422 said - BTR7 is best if you plan to use buds on the go (for some reason) and G5 should be fine desktop if you want to transport it (work->home). Though if you listen to music in bed I think it is kind of on a large side to be convenient use, so I would stick with Fiio. It can push almost 6V RMS out of balanced into 600Ohm load, so really - if headroom does something you would find it there.
For reference I could get Tantalus driver to sound loud and powerful at 400-500mV out on Qudelix5k, so even there there is couple of dB of headroom even for some tiny bit of EQ if needed

Ahahah sorry, my bad. Everyday I need to remember my words echo as more than a customer nowadays. I don’t like to disclose it because if I end up with something else or hating it, there’s backlash.

Today, Helios or MMk2. Tomorrow I have no idea :joy:

Im gonna get a desktop bt amp on my night stand. Am I a weirdo?

It does. @drewid uses it for his TGX buds.

I’m converting my sources into more portable now, I will be left with an extreme linear AMP and DAC on my desk for review and then everything else is portable. This will free me more and leave me not rooted to my desk for when my daughter is born.

Oh boy, feels like a great retirement plan!!

Yeah I have the Megatron and Qudelix for portable DAC/amp, but my partner doesn’t let me bring audio toys to bed :joy:

I never listen to music in bed. But I’m expecting to spend a lot of time there soon -.-

Yes, you are one weird kind creature, but it is not related to this particular amp :kissing_heart:

Depending on your bedroom layout - it may work out for you, though I expect you would need to have the night desk very close to your head or only use long cable headphones for that, so there is no risk of pulling the amp by the cable (either it falling on the floor or compromising the socket/plug). I fall asleep with buds in, so my movements are not controlled, I would live in fear
