Earbuds Discussion Thread

Those Aurora’s are beautiful for an mx500. Sadly though I’m sure they’re out of my price range

@Jsm49 nice write up. I’ve been wanting a pair of riku’s forever now

What is your price range?

It is also available in Bell shell apparently also on request, I just asked Jim. I have itch for some purchase, it may be a good one (though it was supposed to be some Android DAP)

Yeah Jim’s very accommodating when it comes to personal preferences ie cables, termination etc plus excellent customer care, when my red Serratus suffered cracked faceplates I paid postage to return them to him, he repaired them and sent them back foc 1 month turn around from the UK to Canada and back…5* service that :+1:

I’d like to only spend around $50 at the moment. This will be me stepping up to a higher tier other than ultra budget($20 or below to me). I’ve found some really good buds in the ultra budget range.

I have a budget DAP on the way right now. Just an M303 from Ali. A touch screen, kind of like a phone. But it’s not bad for the price ($40).

And I just found out about the upcoming Hiby R1 which is supposed to be Hiby’s budget dap. Wish I would’ve known that sooner. Lol

2 New temperament Earbuds. Not the bell shape like usually. $150 and $850…

Thanks for sharing! Very powerful magnets, super interesting. Ti shell might be heavy though, and insanely expensive lol

I am interested in buying VE ZEN SL, Symphonio Dragons, VE Asura 4.4mm, Shozy BK 4.4mm any other flagship PK shells, pm me. Thanks!

Do note that not all of them use the same “PK” shell, the Shozy BK for example uses the original Yuin PK shell but the Simphonio Dragon 3+ for example uses a different version that is quite a bit bigger.

I thought they were the same size because here https://penonaudio.com/Simphonio-Dragon-3Plus-15th-Anniversary.html it says that it uses 14.2mm driver, maybe it’s wrong

You can see it is the bigger version by looking at the vent, one of them is filled in and not open. The original Yuin PK has both vents open, this shells is the same as the NiceHCK B40/B70.

My pup recently chewed up my beloved EB2S. So now I think I’m gonna replace them with the pros. Anyone own them both? Are the Pros that much better? I actually read a review from someone that preferred the non pro

@Rikudou_Goku this may be a crazy thought but I was wondering if its possible to tune an earbud to mimic the FR of a guitar speaker. Something like this

Most buds already graph like that, but bud graphs are a meme so…

I assume you would want little sub-bass and focus at 2-5k with little upper-treble. Most buds are already like that though, especially with the low sub-bass/upper-treble.

got any recs that are like that? Your B3s have too much treble this use case and I can hear it trying to get those low bass notes but it ends up being kind of farty sounding. I think I want even less bass than that speaker shows so something that really only lives between ~100Hz and ~6k

In that case the only bud I have ever known to be like that would be my (discontinued) Assassin 2 as that was a very midcentric bud (n is the closest shape description).

In the iem world, this is probably the closest graph to what you want I would guess.
