Earbuds Discussion Thread

That track (Copy of a) works yeah.

How interesting. Tried this track on my very bassy TWS first (yes can hear the deep humming). Tried on my V shaped set, LREY W03 Pro, and at my preferred listening volume (which is pretty low), I can’t hear it. I need to jack up the volume much much higher to hear some humming. This supports my experimenting with online tone generators - earbuds can produce like 30 Hz, but only audible at high volumes.

I’ll try with my other sets later!

Thanks mate. After my tests I think that while in isolation (as on sine wave generators) a lot of buds can reach even lower than 30 Hz, but exactly as you tested only in isolation. With other ranges playing in the same time at listenable volumes the sub-sub bass is lost in translation. Just checked - this hum in the track peaks at around 40Hz but goes deep deep down into unhearable ranges. So I cannot imagine it being well reproduced by buds. But if you ask me - I would not care about such ranges as in live instrumentals it is probably impossible to achieve

Yeah I tried with my TGXEAR set, and still can’t hear it lol. Luckily I listen to jazz and classical, so earbuds still work really well

You definitely need to ramp up the volume (where the dark treble helps in the GB2).

What is that software? Looks cool.

Ok I tried with my TGXEAR SBS, and from 10sec I can just hear the deep bass at normal listening volumes. I can raise the volume more on SBS and hear the sub more than W03 Pro because the latter has more elevated pinna I think

This is audacity, quite cool tool for audio mixing and processing https://www.audacityteam.org/ or shit like that

Anyone tried these yet? How are they? Pricey at $330.

The shells (Ti) look nice and small. 14.2mm Be driver, 32 ohms, 117 dB/mW.

Got a loaner from @Valphonics

Nice, thanks again for sharing! Sound interesting, but I imagine I’ll want a bit more low-end. Rikubuds GAS3 and B3 remain the top contenders :metal:

GAS3 for me was pretty analytical, but maybe because I used thinner foams than stock Riku. B3 is a bassier set from what others say

And depending on where you are, there’s a TGXEAR Sunniva on sale from Nate on headfi: TGXEAR - Serial #1 Revelstroke, Sunniva, Ripples, Serratus 1 - Price drop | Headphone Reviews and Discussion - Head-Fi.org

Yeah I tune with stock white ones for gen 3 always. Low density is just included if someone wants to make it a lot brighter and isnt really something I tune with at all.

Saw those prices on Discord :eyes:
They really are not great at all for the used market - I think he is banking on these going for more than usual as they are early early editions - :man_shrugging:

Also Sunniva is a hard bud to rec at that price unless your a multi time TGX buyer as if your after bass @Rikudou_Goku has better options at like half the price. If I was going to buy a first TGX set something like Totem, SBS or OG Serratus would probably show off more of what Jim does supremely - bass IIRC is not so much a primary focus for him due to his tuning tracks being focusing on orchestral/small ensemble classical

That’s true, although he did drop the prices a little bit already lol

SBS is a fantastic balance warm set! Such a fun listen.

Btw, I think you might wanna check out the EBX25Ti

Yeah just saw your comments about the EBX25 - why you gotta do me like this @ttorbic - temptation is high!!!

May try to wait for a used one as seems like there have been more samples of this bud given out to non bud reviewers than I have seen before - so anticipating some used sales soon by IEM users complaining about the lack of bass and fit :joy:

Haha apologies mate :joy: but it’s a very clean airy set like a crisp winter morning.

That’s true, NiceHCK flexing its marketing budget! HobbyTalk already didn’t really like it  I think there was a discount code going around that makes it 270 USD shipped… Not sure if it’s still valid but let me know if you want more info! I think Valphonics paid that amount

These are the kind of writeups I really appreciate. Concise and to the point, with clear context :100:
