Everything SJY Audio

I emailed him because I noticed that the pre-order had disappeared. He didn’t say why, but he did say that some changes had to be made, which made me think that a parts supplier had dried up…

The new tuning for the Umi is out. Feed backs are welcome

The sound stage is very open and surround. The treble is tuned to not have any fatigue while remain airy.

Liking the 900 - 1k region more in this iteration :star_struck:

Someone gave their first impressions of Umi and Horizon over on Head-fi

As a side note, I just switched back to my SN v1 for a bit, and I am still amazed at how good they sound when you feed them a lot of clean power. They still sound best to me on Gjallarhorn mono blocks, but I will try them out on the WA22 once I get my hands on it sometime next year (hopefully).

Oh shit, already onto a TOTL with the Horizon? Man, Jeffrey moves far too quickly for my wallet! Here I was thinking of saving up for the Tungsten, but maybe I should wait…

I am saving up for a new amp here, and now I will have to decide if I will hold off on that to get the Horizon. We shall see

I’m in the same boat, man. I am saving for either a new set of speakers or a new amp, and I can’t make up my mind which one I’m gonna go for yet! It’s driving me nuts, so I certainly don’t want to muddy waters further with this! But the UMI are on the radar, for sure.

Testing out my new Corpse Cable Grave Digger cable on my 3.5mm jack headphones, and I am currently trying them out on SN v1. Defiantly an improvement over the Audiophile Ninja cable when connected to a Burson Soloist 3XP. I have yet to try it with the mono blocks yet. Granted this cable is twice the price of the Audiophile Ninja cable, so I would hope for a sonic improvement. I will hook it up to my pair of Moonlight once I get the chance, but I would recommend a Gravedigger cable for those looking for a cable upgrade. It also improved the sound of my Arya Stealth.

I run my Starry Nights from an EF 400 set to between one and two o’clock without distortion. It seems to be ‘pot luck’ with Hifiman products. My first EF 400 had to be returned as did a pair of He R9s.

May i ask i see now that both the umi and moonlight are the exact same price while the moonlight may be better documented the umi seems interesting. Would you say umi is an upgrade or just a different (brighter? from what i’ve heard) if so i might but the moonlights because i dont care for brightness as much and i much prefer the look of the moonlight.

The Umi is a very open sounding headphone with a bit more airiness. The bass on Umi is more linear but does extend lower into sub bass. It’s best for unobstructed listening and comfort in weight. The Moonlight shares sound similarities with Umi with slightly darker treble.

Posting on this thread too along with my post on the Umi thread.

For anyone curious about the Umi.

Any impressions on the SJY Horizon from CanJam NY? I’m quite interested in them after watching Z’s review.

I had DMS and Golden Sound tried the Horizon and from what I can see they both liked it. I will continue to polish the tuning even further and have more reviews come out.
