Everything SJY Audio

Well… now… Vocals & Guitar are improved over stock pads. The best tracks thus far have been in the acoustic, blues, and classic rock genres. Metal is hit or miss depending on the track, some hip hop/rap tracks do well, but very… track dependent. I am going to make the prediction that jazz tracks would fair well also (I will be testing that out later though). As you can tell I listen to a bit of everything

A stand out track to try Billy Joel Vienna (one of several thus far).

Okay, enough fun with the SN v1. Back to burning in / breaking in my ZMF AO.

I too prefer my artisanal SJY free-range headphones, as opposed to the factory farmed Hifiman headphones :cow::cowboy_hat_face:. You can really hear the difference.

Lol, I can appreciate the characteristics of both, but SJY headphones are more fun. Probably the same reason I like my Atrium as well.

Lol helps if I actually read thanks.

The foam material only changes the mid and treble slightly.
The memory foam absorbs more treble and brings up the mid due to the higher foam density.
The quick foam is less dense and keeps it’s shape so it allows more air movement which sounds more open.

That’s in comparison to the stock pads, right?

Yes, depend on which is more popular I can make it the stock pads.

I’d love to be able to compare the sounds from both the tighter metal mesh vs the more open wooden finish on my Horizon’s…as I also wonder if the new pad designs will affect each differently.

Just wondering aloud…

I will be picking up the wood version next year if it is still available, but yeah it would be nice to demo both units. Small changes like that can sometimes alter the tuning of the headphone (not sure if this applies to Horizon).

Acoustically the difference with wood and metal grills are the wood grill sounds more open. Since there are more open air area. Other than the openness, it’s acoustically negligible.
The new pads will change the mids and treble slightly based on the foam material. The comfort is very similar, the quick foam is bouncer than memory foam.
