The BTR5 runs my Sundaras just fine…

Maybe

I just like the fancy features that let me have high Res for less than 15 bucks even if it’s lossy

can it work with a ps4?

A propos of nothing, I returned to my office for the first time in months. There, on my desk, is a Magni 2. I plugged my BTR5 into the Magni 2 and plugged in a pair of DT880s/600 ohms. Then I played with the volume on the FiiO a bit. Result? It’s really, really good. I’m hearing tremendous clarity and am delighting in the glorious treble that the Beyers can produce. Fine combo.

By the way BTR5 has no line out, so you’re ā€œdouble-ampingā€ I guess, which is a bad thing according to ā€œpuristsā€, but whatever. :+1:

I see a xd-05 (or the new ā€œxd-05 basicā€) in my future (500mW + line out).

I know, and I think it’s my one complaint with the BTR5. It’s something the ES100 does.

It’s my understanding that double-amping can be a problem but isn’t necessarily so. I think it requires caution, that’s all. But I’m not really sure. Are you aware of any problems with double amping?

I’ve been sorely tempted by the XD05, which does everything my Asgard 3 does, inclulding play nicely with powered speakers. I might end up with the XD for my work-office desk, if I ever go back to using the office regularly again…

Warning: the xd-05 basic does NOT have bluetooth. It’s just (still) compatible with the bl-05 thingy or whatever the name is. Even the DROP page says it has Bluetooth 5.0: Nope.

Main difference is the new ā€œxd-05 basicā€ is Class A + USB-C + a little switch to switch from battery only to external power only, finally making it a real ā€œdesktop dacā€.

Hi, do you guys think the BTR5 sound better than an entry DAPs like hidizs AP80 PRO, FIIO M3 PRO? Even if it doesn’t, do you think the more convenient of BTR5 over the DAPs can replace the gap of sound?

Imo yes. The Btr5 sounds better than an entry level Dap and it is very convenient.

There seems to be a problem with the website. Better not use the link at the moment.

I have the BTR5, but can it bring out the full potential of the Audio Technica ATH-R70x or at least run it?

i just got my connection to this site blocked by my antivirus because of some malware.
If you need to upgrade the firmware i would suggest not using that link

It is the link to the official Fiio website and Avira Mobile Security on my smartphone is not responding. I did not know from which other website you can start the download otherwise. If you do not want to use the link, you can find the website on the Fiio website under News (the seventh top.)

Additions

There is also a download link in the official fiio forum. but I even get a Browser report that the website is not secure.

Additions 2

I’ve just tried different browsers. Firefox and Thor browsers block the connection to all Fiio websites because they detect errors on the website. Thor and DuckDuckGo do not. You should probably not visit the Fiio website for the next time. Not through the link and not otherwise.

I’m using firefox, but the browser didn’t block anything for me, it was avast anivirus.

Strange that my Avira Antivirus did nothing. Hopefully, if the fault lies with Fiio, they’ll fix it soon.

I’ve had that problem on Brave too but it was my VPN. Fiio uses a proxy script when connecting, so maybe it’s your network settings in Firefox.

I only use IEMs, these are low resistance. But from what I read in the tests when I bought the BTR5, it should be fine with it. It would of course be advantageous to use balanced.
In addition, the headphones would probably sound a little better with a more powerful amplifier.

My OnePlus 7 pro has developed an issue with the bluetooth on the btr5. Heads up before you update!

Those who tried locking LDAC in Fiio Music App but still show as SBC/APTX on their BTR5 screen can try this:

  1. Open your Bluetooth under the Android setting.
  2. Tap on your BTR5 cog setting button on the right side.
  3. Once you open the individual Bluetooth setting for your BTR5, enable LDAC under ā€œCodecsā€.

I am using Android 10 Samsung Note 20 Ultra. I too have had this issue but now settled. LDAC is on whenever BTR5 connecting to my phone. Your setting based on your Android version may vary.

What kind of issue do you mean?
