šŸ”· FiiO BTR5

Just the balanced side? And none of the sides are giving any signal?

If it’s yes for both, it could be that either the inside of the connector or the mounting of it is bad. Maybe you could resolder if you can open the device.

Other wise, it can be some part of the chips, and if that’s the case then bye. Although if the SE works, just keep it using for a time.

I just got my BTR5, and I am using it as my DAC during the work day, then when I unplug it, it uses Bluetooth to my phone, and I don’t even have to change headphones. It really is an amazing device. It might not be the most powerful amp, but it solves for a bunch of other problems that aren’t just power.

Since I got a pair of Moondrop Aria IEMs the same week, they are almost always plugged into my BTR5. I need to take my SHP9500 out for a drive today.

I think for most entry / budget audiophiles the BTR5 is a solid solution for a number of annoying little problems.

Having scrolled through the thread, I couldn’t find any info on bluetooth aptx Low Latency use in movies. I really want to pull the trigger on the BTR5 but can’t seem to get any user experience on this particular matter? Something along the lines of stability of signal, volume levels ect…

Looking at the Fiio Control app, aptx-LL appears as an option on codec selection, so probably there is support for it. TBH I never noticed any latency problems. Granted I don’t see many movies on phones, but I do occasionally see Youtube videos.

@fabiokelm Forgot to mention, I’ll be transmitting the signal From TV, through a 1Mii B03 Pro transmitter/receiver and picking it up on the BTR5. Not sure how this compares to watching movies direct from a telephone?

Sorry, don’t know anything about this device. I used the BTR5 from my smartphone (Motorola X4) and from some computers: my Dell Latitude notebook from work, and my personal desktop with an Intel Wifi/Bluetooth radio.

I think you should be fine though. Last case scenario you can connect the BTR5 to a phone, use the Fiio Control app to limit the BTR5 to use only aptx LL, and it should be fine.

Then again, I’m not a big content consumer using Bluetooth so take my comment with a grain of salt.

Is it possible to use both out-put jacks to connect two headphones (wired) simultaneously?
Just trying to sort out my options before pulling the trigger on this device.

My guess would be no. If it’s anything like the q5s, balanced out will take precedence over se out

I watch YouTube with them all the time over YouTube on both LDAC and AptX and have never had issues. The app shows a LL support, but I have never bothered running it.

That is transmitting from a PC to the BTR5, I also have a phone connected at the same time most of the day.

I tested it mine, and the answer is no.
I was surprised, the 3.5mm unbalanced wins.

I recently got my btr5 and I’ve got a question , it only turns on when I plug it to my phone and the screen starts blinking ,and when I unplug it it turns off , I let it charge for 2 hours with my phone and when I turn off charging in the menu it charges anyway , is it broken or does it take a lot of time to charge , and I also wanna ask about what charger do I use for it , in the box it said it needed 5v , 500mA , and I didn’t found a charger like that , I’ve read that it’s better to charge with a power bank

that sounds defective to me… any option to return / exchange it?

Any good phone charger will do the trick. I keep old iPhone chargers around for things like this.

My 2 cents on your issue: plug it into a charger over night to be certain it’s fully charged. Then try a factory reset on it:

If it’s still not working, try to get a return / exchange. (If you can’t do that, I have one I’m selling, happy to give you a really good price.)

It charges over the USB-C, and I actually plug my in once or twice a day for a while. I just have standard powered USB cables on my desk ( C and micro ). It doesn’t have enough power to get through the entire day. If you press the small round button, it should show the full display, if it is off that is just the power meter. I don’t recall it taking more than 30 minutes to fully charge.

I know there are some odd charging options on the app, but I almost never use it. I set it up once, and then almost never touch the app. My understanding is the app is horrible on iPhone.

It wasn’t like that the first few days , I didn’t charge it when I got it and it worked fine until it hit 2 bars on the charge then it started blinking and only turned on while charging it , could it really be defective

Definitely maybe

When you plug it in with a wall charger does the screen do anything? Usually it will show charging status.

I still think trying the factory reset is your best chance.

I tried plugging it into a power bank , then I unplugged it and it turn on it showed Bluetooth pairing , then I plugged it into my phone , I choose charge off but it kept charging , I kept unplugging and plugging and then it stopped charging , it may work now but can it fail another day , what I want to know is : is it really defective now ?

no way to know. if it can easily be exchanged from where you bought it I would do it. If you wait and it fails again later, it’ll be harder to return / exchange then.

That would be my approach, it seems defective. Return it now while you can.

Ok thanks a lot , I’ll try to contatct them

I noticed that my btr5 battery life was short and it was usually warm , so I tested it , I did 2h30min of continuous listening and it went from 100% to 20% , I’m using low gain , volume 37% , balanced output to a 2 pin 0.78 cable to bl05s iems plugged in to my iPhone listening to Apple Music lossless , and also noticed in a song that the sound was scratchy I unplugged and plugged and it came back to normal , i want to know if I’m using it correctly or not because i read on some forums a guy that was getting 2-3h of battery life was using it the wrong way and not using real balanced output because he plugged it to a pioneer sc-55 using an RCA cable
