Received FH3 yesterday and had been listening to it since. Itās pretty good for its price. The best for its price I should add. But for my personal taste I still prefer FH7 and FH5 to FH3. I still like FH3 more than Sony M7 and many other more expensive iems though so FH3 is without a doubt very impressive. My write up will be very subjective. Just wanna lay out my experience. Driving it with fiio k5 pro or lg v50 listening to Spotify Premium.
I mostly listen to vocal centric music(weeb music included) and EDM. FH5 and FH7 has better vocal for me. Mid on FH5 is the most forward with the fullest body out of the three. Itās also the most energetic with great smoothness and good clarity. FH7ās mid is not as forward compare to FH5. Maybe slightly less so compared to FH3. It still count as mid forward iem btw. It has the cleanest sound with best detail and overall quality. FH7 is leaner on the body compare to both FH3 and FH5 but you would never find it to be āthinā sounding. FH3 has the warmest sounding mid out of the three. The clarity, cleanness, and overall refinement is noticeably lacking compare to FH7(to me at least). FH3ās mid is a bit on the warm side and can sound grainy. The clarity is definitely good enough but FH5 and FH7 are better. Also for some reason I find it lacks a bit of energy. The micro dynamic(is this a thing?) is a bit bland. Mind you I am also comparing the mid FH3 to much more expensive iems that I listened to. Which includes ToGo 334, EST universal, and some high end FAD iems. So yeah definitely being way too critical than I should be. Itās incredible for its price and very good when price is not considered. Also I forgot to mention the sound is very non-fatiguing. I can listen to FH3 longer than FH7 and much longer than FH5 before I feel drained from the sound.
The bass is really good. Better than FH7 quantity wise. FH5 still has the best overall bass imo. FH3 does have the most pronounced mid bass though. M9/M7, SE846, and Xelento still beat w/e FiiO has on bass very easily. Those go way deeper with stronger impact while retaining great bass resolution and overall quality. The difference is pretty significant.
The high is okay. Not sure what to talk about here. FH7 has better treble extension and air. The air it provides makes it such a joy to listen to. It can be sibilant on FH7 to some but using the red filter+foam tips solve that for me. FH3 very rarely causes sibliance though it still does sometimes to my ears if the track is recorded or produced in certain ways. FH5 is never sibliant to my ears but it does lack the air and sparkle FH7 has.
The soundstage on FH3 is significant wider than FH5. About the same depth. FH7 is about as wide when compared to FH3 and deeper in depth. Imaging wise FH3 is better than FH5 while FH5 has better instrument separation. FH7 is a bit better on these than both.
Comfort wise FH3 wins hands down no contest. Easily the most comforable iem for me so far. Yes even more comfotable than m9/m7!
TLDR: Yes get it. Itās pretty damn impressive. But I still prefer FH7 the most overall while FH5 still has the best vocal for me.
Iāve got a pretty great seal with the stock tips but those double flange spinfit tips have me curious. Years ago I had some Klipsch buds that had similar tips and they fit amazingly well. 11$ tips make me feel gross though, and itās always a roll of the dice. I bought the Dekoni bulletz and didnāt like what they did to sound signatures at all, money down the drain.
Edit: Annnd within minutes I talked myself into not only getting those but also getting the Spinfit 100s and 145s. Guess my money flinging ass will report the results later.
I was curious about them too. I have all the different double flange sizes. They seal well but I prefer the other Spinfit tips. The double flange feel like theyāre tickling by brain.
Nice! I hope you enjoy them. Youāll have a solution for all different IEMs no matter nozzle size or how deep its insertion depth with all of the Spinfit sizes.
Planning to get some Spinfits as well, but Iāll think Iāll wait for the IEM to arrive before choosing which ones. Gonna have a play with the included tips, first. Cable arrived, FH3 should get here by Thursday!
I agree with Chrisā review. Perfect description of the FH3.
Iād like to hear suggestions anyone would have for an IEM that does bass better than the FH3. Maybe THOR MJĆLNIR? I have one ordered but havenāt heard it yet. I think Beryllium is a necessity to compete with the FH3ās bass.
I havenāt heard ābetterā or canāt imagine what ābetterā would sound like, but Chris put a numbered raking of 7 on the FH3 for its bass, so Iām wondering what would be better? For me personally, I couldnāt ask for anything āmoreā. Just wondering what others thought. I know Chris thinks the THOR MJĆLNIR is superior to the FH3.
Unless someone expected less detail, speed, texture or control in their bass response to be ābetterā, I think the FH3 bass is perfect. Iām genuinely intrigued now to hear a set with 10/10 bass.
I would give the FH3 a 10/10 for its bass.
EDIT: Reading through the YouTube commentsā¦ Chris is suggesting the Urbanfun to be generally superior to the FH3 and specifically the Legacy 3 to have better bass than the FH3 but the FH3 is better at everything else. I disagree with that. My L3 sounds dead in comparison to the FH3, but I guess I have a bad one.
He prefers the FH3 to the 64 audio Nio which is saying a lot, thatās a $1,699.00 set and they are tuned similarly.
I gotta pick that IEM up. Is it going to be on sale during this Aliexpress sale? I saw this on eBay and was worried about it since it didnāt appear to actually be the LZ A6ā¦ Itās missing the circular parts on the shell? I want to ensure Iām getting the one you suggest!
