šŸ”¶ FiiO FH3 2BA 1DD

Some of the reviews that Iā€™ve watched / read said that the FD1 is quite harsh in the upper mids to lower treble. Iā€™m quite sensitive to the 4k-8k region so I guess the FH3 is a better choice, right? I donā€™t mind if itā€™s double the price of the FD1.

For sure, FH3 is a safe bet in this case, even more if your thing is L-shape. The FD1 could be kind of gambling since even the @PapaEmeritus has reported his fist pair wasnā€™t as impressive as his 2nd unit IIRC.

The FR graph:

After crinacle brought up how good the Apple USB-C dongle is as a source, Iā€™ve got one for $9 and Iā€™m really surprised how clean and powerful it sounds for IEMs. If you find your cellphoneā€™s sound is lacking you could give it a try. Just bear in mind this dongle needs an app called UAPP to unlock the HW volume since android tames it a lot if you just plug and play.

Another option without this hassle would be the Tempotec HD sonata Pro, but since you said youā€™re going to upgrade your cellphone later, it wouldnā€™t make much sense.

I guess Iā€™ll go with FH3 then. Probably Iā€™ll get them next month. Have bills to pay atm lol. Thanks for all the input. Greatly appreciate it.

My first FD1 I believe was defective and was horrible sibilant. The second FD1 I have is right in line with the FH3 and even slams harder. I prefer the FH3, but they are actually very close.

Man, good memory! I actually felt bad about the things I said about the FD1 after hearing the second set. HIFI Guides description and ranking of the FD1 kept me guessing. I respect his opinions and our reactions of that IEM could not have been more different. Iā€™m glad I took his advise because now I have a kick ass compliment to the FH3 for only 60 bucks.

hi all, complete n00b here. does anyone have any comparisons between these and the Mangird Tea?

currently a blon bl-03 owner (no mods, but w/ final e tips) and i love the sound of these, but think itā€™s time to upgrade. just not sure what to go with (trying to keep under $350 if possible and see that these are getting good reviews).

If you scroll up there are a few already

Welcome complete n00b.

What kind of music do you enjoy?

The FH3 is bass focused and smooth in the treble. Itā€™s a fun signature with a lot of bass technicality, yet still a fairly balanced IEM.

The Mangird Tea is a brighter IEM yet possesses inoffensive treble with fantastic mids. It is sub-bass focused. It lacks mid to upper low-end frequencies. Some feel the Mangird is bass shy. The Mangird Teaā€™s stage is wonderful. To me the best way to describe it is smooth and natural.

Fit and inner ear suction is an issue for me with the Mangird. The nozzle goes a bit too far into my ear canal for comfort especially with the suction from the DD. If you prefer foam tips, youā€™ll be fine. Iā€™ve had to break mine in for months for the venting to allow for silicone tips.

thank you @Felix and @PapaEmeritus. useful insights.

a decent range, but mainly listen to hip-hop, jazz (cool, hard bop, avant garde, and fusion eras if it matters), and r&b. i definitely enjoy a full sounding sub bass and having something fun, but jazz seems to require somewhat of a different signature than hip-hop, which is what makes choosing IEMā€™s somewhat difficult for me.

the nozzle for the Mangird has me a bit weary, since i generally donā€™t gravitate towards foam tips. for whatever reason i donā€™t find them as comfortable for long listens.

Sounds like you would love the FH3 then.

You get your sub-bass rumble and punch with Hip-hop.

Warmth and a clean bass with R&B and Jazz.

Same. I find with very thin silicone, I get a better seal and the bass frequencies reverberate more inside my ear canal. The thicker the silicone, the more this ā€œeffectā€ diminishes. Foams donā€™t do it at all.

FH3 for hip hop 100%
Mangird for jazz if you want more clarity in the treble & mid frequencies. The FH3 is going to sound more lush.

Comfort - FH3 > Mangird Tea.

The choice is yours but as Goku mentioned, the FH3 is the safer bet. Everything sounds great on it.

Yup, the FH3 is probably one of, if not the most versatile iem I have.

Agreed. There might be certain IEMs better suited for personal tastes, but I personally havenā€™t been let down by it with anything Iā€™ve listened to, and I enjoy a lot of different music. Everything sounds fantastic on it.

Last night I was listening to thisā€¦

There are these piano clicks that arenā€™t clearly apparent on a lot of sets. The details sounded amazing on the FH3. I love this song.

Iā€™m listening to it right now over speakers and canā€™t even make them out. Might be the Youtube quality. I listen to flac files normally. The clicks were so clear, it felt like I was there.

I also received my FH3 and the monocrystalline silver cable LC2.5D today. They really sound a lot better than my Sennheiser Momentum and above all the annoying trebbles has disappeared from almost all albums.:grinning: I was afraid that it might have too much bass and too few highs, but I was wrong. It already has a lot more bass but the FH3 is perfect for me. Now just let Burn in a little. I heard it ist supposed to be important with silver cables?

Nah, we havenā€™t found any audible changes with burn-in. Just enjoy! Happy to hear the FH3 is perfect for you!

makes sense! you and @Rikudou_Goku may have just sold me on the FH3ā€™s then. iā€™m quite surprised that i havenā€™t seen many reviews on these though. even the BGGAR review was pretty thin.

Heā€™s rightly addicted to his MEST at the moment. I saw he has finally dropped rankings of the Legacy 3, Blon BL-03 and Urbanfun. All great IEMs, but I think they are more appropriately ranked now.

I briefly flirted with the idea of going with the Urbanfun, but the QC issues Iā€™ve read about scared me out of that one. even though a return wouldnā€™t have been difficult via amazon, itā€™s not worth the hassle. also saw some mixed reviews re: L3 QC. hopefully no QC issues come up with the FH3

I have a set of FH3s coming tomorrow and am looking for a decent or good cable with aux mic for when I use at work and still be able to take a call if necessaryā€¦

Itā€™s pretty interesting how much can change in so little time. I watched the L3 hype from start to finish and how it went from a really great IEM to just a decent one due to QC. People were praising it back in june-july. Guess thatā€™s hype trains for ya.
