where did you find a cheaper BTR5?

Wifimedia.eu
It was an outlet product but as far as I can see itā€™s still on the site so may e thereā€™s another one. Donā€™t know where they ship to though, they are located in the Netherlands.

Thank you for this! The whole album is a trip. Perfect for the FH3s.

Everything by Big Boi is a massive challenge to audio systems. He ainā€™t afraid to do sweeping audio, 30hz rolls, and some wicked fragmented sounds. Check out Big Grams too!

tbh the MMCX cable is very hard to remove

Big Boi Kill Jill is my primary bass test. Most over ear headphones canā€™t even come close to appropriately presenting that bass.

Recent mmcx connectors are getting harder to remove. But I take it over a loose connectionā€¦

Iā€™ve spent some time with these now, and they have exceeded my expectations. Ever since I got into this hobby, little over a year ago, I thought I was only interested in the very bright, mid forward and little bass signature. The FH3 has showed me what nice bass is and why I need it in my life.

I am not a reviewer by a longshot, so donā€™t take this as a review but just some random, incoherent and badly phrased thoughts.

I really like the bass on these, they seem very detailed and present, without overpowering the mids. There are songs where I now hear that the bass isnā€™t a monotonous dum dum, but it actually has a melody that I previously couldnā€™t make out. This is probably due to me not paying attention to bass and avoiding bassy head/earphones.
Iā€™m very impressed with the instrument separation and the imaging. The soundstage is wide enough for my taste, but what really stood out to me was the depth.
For me the FH3 is the perfect companion to the Tin T2. I had my friends make an essentials list of the songs that they found te be forming in their lives up until now (really fun to do btw) and I was listening to a friendā€™s list with the T2 and the FH3 both connected. I just kept switching between them because every song I wasnā€™t to impressed by on one of them sounded absolutely awesome on the other. I find it hard to pinpoint exactly what it is that the T2 does better in some songs than the FH3, but I like acoustic songs a bit more on the T2, while I prefer almost all other songs on the FH3. (Could this be the more natural timbre due to the T2 only having a single DD?)

I purchased these to replace the Moondrop Starfield, so thatā€™s the main comparison I was interested in. In short, the FH3 beats the Starfield in everything except soundstage IMO. The Starfield does everything right, but it didnā€™t do anything for me; it never made me feel anything.

The included tips are nice, but Iā€™m using spinfit cp100ā€™s on both the T2 and the FH3. In terms of cable, Iā€™m not sure what to think of the one provided with the FH3. On the one hand itā€™s sturdy and doesnā€™t stay curled like some cables do, on the other hand itā€™s quite heavy and it does suffer a bit from microphonics. I wish they would have provided a single case instead of the little cloth thing and the hard plastic one. The plastic one is too big and bulky and the little one barely fits the IEMs with cable attached.

Glad you like them.

My thoughts exactly!

The FH3 does nothing wrongā€¦ but in acoustics, especially guitar stuff, it lacks some sparkle and grit. It smooths ever a lot of details that other IEMs can shine better with. The bass is the star of the show as itā€™s controlled, as in the bass is there when it needs to be, especially for sub-bass stuff, but otherwise not. The details and imaging are stellar.

The FH3 sounds like a really well-turned big concert setup. Bass is present, mids are focused, vocals are there, but cymbals and guitars are dulled. But itā€™s a sound that fills you and doesnā€™t make you feel uncomfortable. It makes things feel like a big event.

The same concert setup isnā€™t good if you want an intimate acoustic set, like a singer-songwriter with a guitar in a small bar. It lacks that twang and upper-range presence.

Iā€™m kinda debating the Tin T2s as a companion to these. I have too many bassy IEMs. :stuck_out_tongue:

First post! Great thread.

I have owned the FH3 for a week now and have listened to nothing else since they arrived. I canā€™t believe how good these sound for the money.

I have the sony wh-1000xm3 for NC, some Grado SR80eā€™s and for a few weeks the KZ ZSX (my first IEM but too big and too sibilant).

These comfortably destroy all of those headphones. I am using these with the IFI hip dac mostly and occasionally with my RME-ADI, which widens the soundstage considerably.

I love that feeling of the music being ā€˜inā€™ your head. I havenā€™t experienced it before and it is a completely different way of listening. Better. I canā€™t see me going back and my hi-fi setup is gathering dust.

They have also turned me back Into a techno head! The Bass!

So I have only listened to 2 sets of IEMs, with these considerably better than the first. question is, how much better can IEMs get compared to FH3? And how much would I have to pay to get a reasonable uplift in sound.

The question is more out of curiosity than a serious query about upgrading. I donā€™t think I can enjoy listening to music more than I do with these IEMs, so no point in upgrading.

Welcome.

Fiio FD5
LZ A7
Sony XBA-N3
Dunu Zen

are a few iems that are higher up than the FH3. But if you enjoy the FH3 as much as are right now, then continue doing so. The longer you wait the better and cheaper you get your next upgrade with chi-fi anyway.

Iā€™m so tempted by FD5, how much better it is overall than Fh3?
I know itā€™s not gonna be 2x better, but is it noticeable or enough?

I say it is better on all aspects, maybe tied in bass (depends on preference, if you want a more fun or a clean bass, FH3 = fun, FD5 = clean)

I recently got a set of FH3 and it had a 2 pin connector and not mmcx. Has anybody else seen a set of FH3 with a 2 pin and not mmcx.

Picture? Thats new.

The FH3 rule in general. Itā€™s the best hybrid Fiio makes in my opinion. Glad to hear youā€™re enjoying them.

Unfortunately, itā€™s going to be difficult for any IEM to come close or beat the FH3 bass quality. The Fiio FD5 being one of them at over double the price. And it is not better, but different. It has better timbre and is cohesive. But the imaging and soundstage the FH3 has is phenomenal. My only issue with the FH3 is it sounds crunchy and a bit harsh in the upper frequencies, but very detailed still.

You hit the nail on the head when you said the FH3 you canā€™t believe how good the FH3 is for the price. The FH3 hits way above its asking price. It one of if not the best value in IEMs.

NO! Sounds like Fiio has heard the complaints about the MMCX connectors and given up on them for two pin possibly? My FD1 is the only Fiio IEM I have personally that has a 2 pin.

Iā€™d buy a third FH3 for the 2 pin connector!

Yes, please post a photo!!!
