šŸ”¶ FiiO FH3 2BA 1DD

I feel you. I really really like Fiioā€™s sets, they do have a more forward sound and not everyone is into it. Super neutral sets always sound a bit boring to me.

I have the FD3s, and the FD7s now, highly recommended. BGGAR has a nice review of the FD7s if youā€™re looking for flagship. Iā€™ll also say if youā€™re into the Fiio sound, you might check out the Dunu Zens.

Iā€™ve checked out the Zen, but I think Iā€™m looking for a hybrid or a tribrid. Since Iā€™ve owned multiple single driver sets over the years Iā€™d like to hear what the more busy sets are doing. Either that or a full BA, very curious about those since a few have come out lately.

Fiio also just came out with a new set, the FH9 with 1 DD and 6 BAs. I really wish they posted graphs on their site though.

Glad I didnā€™t go with the Timeless manā€¦ I am enjoying the FH3 more and more. I got an LC-RC Fiio cable as well to connect it balanced to the BTR5 and it scaled very nicely.
I always look for the next step up thoughā€¦ Missing some energy at low treble I think. Cymbals and allā€¦ I have my eyes on the Oracle at the moment. But FH3 still rocks.

I upped the treble, that was the one thing in stock that I knew right away I was going to need to adjust. Didnā€™t need a lot and they took to it really well.

Yeap, thatā€™s what they need I guess, unfortunately for me the BTR5 doesnā€™t do well with EQ. Maybe I get a Qudelix instead of a new pair of iems? :yum:

How much better would the Oracle be? FH3 already has so much detail. And I guess more bass?

Thatā€™s the real question. I donā€™t know what ā€œbetterā€ sounds like from here. At this price point youā€™d have to think itā€™s missing something that ā€œhigh endā€ sets have going for them but idk. These being on the cheaper side of the hobby makes me think we should have a ways to go before diminishing returns start to hit really hard, but Iā€™ve never heard a set in the mid or upper price points so I have no idea.

This is where the lack of demo sets really irks me.

If you love a set, stop. Your wallet will thank you and your sanity as well!

I like how the Sennheiser IE300 graph looks, compared to the FH3. I think thatā€™s what Iā€™ll check out next, but after the new year. I love the FH3 sound but itā€™s not very comfortable for my ear shape.

How much better are the FH7 to the FH3? iā€™m currently using the 7ā€¦ i dont want an upgrade per say, as they sound great! but i want to try something different, something that is more fun has better bass and maybe more for casual listening.

I would wait for crinacleā€™s eclipse edition

FH7 are much better than FH3 ā€¦

Iā€™d say FH3 sounds bassy, dry and cuppy/hollow. Like itā€™s clinical and bassy. Another way to put it is itā€™s too bass and mid-forward.

Timeless just has too much bass actually and if you pull that down the recessed treble isnā€™t even that much of an issue. Basically it sounds a bit soft or veiled, things arenā€™t as well defined as they should be.

That said, FH3 if you want to straighten it out requires quite a lot of filters (altho 2 or 4 at the least is actually sufficient, -5db at 1.2k and +3-5db at 3 and 4 k) which isnā€™t the case for Timeless or Starfield (assuming you want to correct everything and are aiming at a specific target and not just going by ear).

So in short (to my ears):

  • Timeless: soft
  • FH3: Soft but also dry

Idk if Timeless is any more resolving tho.

Here, something like this.

Hi, is it good to listen to New Metal, Metal, Deathecore (heavy music) on FiiO FH3? I recently sold my FiiO FH7s, they are very good, but there is too little bass, which makes Slipknot, Korn, Bleed from With In sound not as good as we would like. Iā€™m looking for something for this genre.

No!

HARD disagree with SoundEater. I listen primarily to heavy music and I fucking loooove this set for it.

That being said they are big in the low end so if youā€™re not into that (which I find insane) you may not like them.

In heavy music, midrange and how the driver works with speed is very important. This does not work well with FH3! The guitars are slightly blurred! For example, FH3 has a hard time coping with dynamics like this ARCHSPIRE - 'Bleed the Future' (Full Album Stream) 2021 - YouTube , but for lighter genres it works! There is a lot of bass, but it is not very fast at FH3. The man made a mistake by selling FH7.

Iā€™ve listened to that album a ton using this set and I donā€™t know what blur youā€™re referring to.

And again I have to strongly disagree. The main attraction on this set (for me) is how fast and tight the bass is. I have never heard it start to fall apart or get sloppy, even on tracks with absurd speed in the low end like Archspireā€™s.

I didnā€™t like the sound in FH7 for heavy music, even redmi air dots 2 sounded more fun for me, yes, it is clear that they are worse in everything, but they were fun. I do not regret a bit that I sold the FH7. If FH3 does not fit, I will look for something else, possibly FD3.

Have to admit that I like the KZ dq6 for metal
And for 26 bucks itā€™s worth trying imo if they fit you and if you can stand the treble :stuck_out_tongue:
