Was curious about that and about to ask you. With vio 280 disappearing from the market I have a bit hard time to pick replacement and have a finger on clears for nice price.
Was not sure rebel will be enough to drive them but seems like an option now.

The clears are not hard to drive power wise, they just like quality amplification, they are very revealing of an amps quality

That means that rebel or rnhp can drive them juat fine but higher end would reveil theirs full potential?

Yes that is the case, something like a gsx mini or v280 is a noticable step up from a rebel or rnhp imo, and then up from there

If anyone wants to try the Clear’s with a warmer, more natural (imo) tonality, Chrono’s EQ settings are very good:

Low Shelf at 85hz, +3dB Q of 0.7

Peak at 1200hz, -3dB Q of 1.41

Peak at 3500hz, -3dB Q of 2

Peak at 6000hz, -6dB Q of 4

Peak at 10000hz, -4dB Q of 3

Thanks for the share. Still not into EQ on my clears but in a couple of weeks I’ll be messing around with it. Just enjoying stock for the time being.

Are the connectors the same on the clear/clear pro as the stellia. (want to know if I can just use my stock balanced cable from the stellias as I can get a clear pro for a bit of money off from a store rather than amazon.)

Have had these a little over a week and I must say, these have the best clarity and detail i have heard so far. That being said, i enjoy a more fun headphone, and prefer the Eikons and the hexv2 on the right amp. Having the Elegia as well, i can say the clears put those in its place haha. Elegia is good, just sounds not as natural as the Clears. Elegias are nice though for portability and isolation however. And with the clears you must get a decent amp. Vocals on the Clears are the best I’ve heard so far. Very natural for me. The open space on the clears are pretty incredible as well. I do found myself being detailed oriented with these rather than just jamming out. So i will have to say i prefer the Eikons, because I get great details, some slam, and more fun sound. Plus isolation. The crazy openness of the clears can be too much for me at times, unless it’s live music or acoustic. The music just seems to flow out into space at times, and im grasping for it to come back haha. I truly can appreciate these headphones and what they can do. Pretty incredible. Just not completely my cup of tea. But def worth it to own. :+1:

a focal seems like the ultimate end goal for me…

i think i prefer dynamic drivers to planar (no experience from planars though just experience and who knows maybe i might be more into IEMs and BA drivers) due to my love of an intense thump and impact and power to sound over a lot of clarity… i love texture and if clarity can give texture that is nice… but the thump and the dynamics and the intensity is what makes a headphone truly engaging for me… so yeah focals are my summit level

Planars might actually be more up your alley, atleast the more hard hitting ones. Hexv2 has some good clarity, so does the edition xx. but more slam than the clears , atleast on the right amp. I would def suggest looking into to those. Sundaras however don’t slam as much as those. Just my experience.

i dont think i’d have the money for a high end planar… i am only in the under 500 range rn so the sundaras are the only things i can do… i can give you my test sounds playlist and you can see what music i listen to and maybe figure it out but its just kinda complicated

If you love texture and thump, you are a Focal man. That describes my Elex’s perfectly. Sometimes I find them a little too “dynamic”, but I also find them addictive.

Curious to hear how the Clears would compare.

Do you like slam and rumble at all in the bass?

Clears are super dynamic and pretty great at some thump and texture. But I’ve heard stuff that does bass better. I guess that just comes to preference.

The Elex’s are not basshead 'phones, but they have way more thump than I expected when I bought them.

I would love to A-B the Elex’s and Clear’s.

Yea would be cool, i think the consensus is if you have the clears and elex, get rid of the elex for a better amp to pair with the clears.

I think I have the amps now, but I am not willing to drop the coin on Clear’s at this point. I am curious though.

If you already own a pair of Focals you know how important this is, lol.

Funny thing…the Utopia’s cable isn’t the same. It’s a higher quality version of the same damn stiff flat cable. But it’s different and higher quality in many ways. So they made an effort to improve it, but stuck with the same flawed design.

So that means that when the Engineers at Focal set out to design the Utopia they said (French accent here) “I know dat our stock cables arrrre amazink, , but for zee Utopia, make it even more amazing. But keep zee same design…it’s a winner.”
