🔶 Focal Clear

I think it depends on what you are willing to spend. Currently, I own an RNHP and G111 and love my Clears and Elegias on both amps, but slightly prefer the G111 for the dynamic sound and staging.

The Lake People RS-08 is supposedly even better. If you have the means, the Violectric V281, GSX Mini, Phonitor E all have been mentioned by many as great pairings with Focal headphones.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve read extensively through this Thread, the RNHP and even your comparison. I would like to keep it in the 500 mark, give or take. I will have to upgrade my DAC later on, but right now between the Clear’s and a amp its as far as i can go. I’m already looking to sell some stuff i have around so I can keep them  Oh and I’m EU based. If i had the cash i would probably jump on the Violectric.

If you are EU based, then I’d definitely recommend the G111 or something from Lake People/Violectric.

The Lake People RS-08 may be slightly out of your budget, but sometimes you can find them on the used market for a great price. Same with the Violectric V200, V280 or V281.

Or a used V220…

At his price point, I would strongly recommend a Liquid Platinum, but it will probably be pretty pricey in Europe. Maybe used?

Liquid Platinum is a no go in my small corner of the world. Gonna keep a look out for the lake and vio used stuff. Not in hurry. Thanks for the suggestions!

Good luck on used gear. I recently got a Vio V220 for less than 1/2 price and it is Very impressive. I would imagine the Lake People stuff is the same.

Just an update after a month and a half with these guys. They’re my daily drivers and they are fucking phenomenal.

I’ll repeat Tyll’s quote…

“These are headphones worth eating ramen for a month for.”

Infinitely true lol. If you like neutrality and dynamics and don’t mind a smaller stage, get a pair.

Interesting those are like next on my list. Have to give a shot to that ramen eating habit for more than a month after last few months of madness lol

Interesting review, I thought his overall impression was close to my own. Its a bit of a walk to get there though.

Having had these for a few months now, I can say that these are my favorite headphones - hands down! They just sound great with everything I listen to. I usually pair them with a Schiit Gumby > Liquid Platinum. Makes me want to hear a pair of Elegias. I am a Clear fan for life!

My rebel amp just arrived. Do you guys think its enough to power the clears?

Yeah it had plenty in it for the clears imo

How does it compare to a rnhp?

It’s got more low end impact with the clear, a bit less natural sound than the rnhp so a bit more colored in a fun way, they are both good for detail, but I think the presentation of the rnhp is more natural with the clear. The rebel is wider and more spacious than the rnhp, but the rnhp is more accurate in stage with more depth. Both are pretty good imo, I think it would come down to preference, I prefer the rnhp a bit more with the clear but I think the rebel is still a solid pairing with the clear for fun imo

How are you liking the rebel so far?

I love it. Feels like I have a new set of headphones  It’s like putting a thick spread of class A Ukrainian butter on your toast haha
