Is the clear worth twice as much as the elex?
I think itās worth the extra cost, only if you have the disposable income for it, as well as a very good amp to drive it withā¦ RNHP, minimumā¦ ideally something a bit higher-end to get the most out of it. I wouldnāt go into debt for it. The Elex is still very good.
Yes, if your not willing to invest in an amp in the 500 and up range, I would recommend the elex instead. On something like a thx they do sound very close where it doesnāt make sense to buy the clear, but again, they are more picky so higher end amp, higher end sound
I vouch for what everyone else says, unless your use case is mixing.
I think there is better out there for mixing actually, but for mastering or post production I would agree
how is the clear compared to the hifiman arya, lcd2c, aeolus or anything else in this price range? I am looking for the next upgrade. I currently have the 6xx, 99 noir, blon b20 and the neumann ndh20.
What qualities of sound reproduction are ideal for the different tasks?
I kind of understand that for mastering youād want something relatively neutral, but expressive enough that itās not boring (musical?). A general facsimile of how it will sound on different playback mediums (speakers, headphones, iemās).
But Iām not sure what different qualities you need for mixing. My guess is greater detail.
Something forward, flat sounding, aggressive, and can represent space good enough. Come compression might be nice too.
I think some details would get lost with the clears dynamic range, and be hidden perhaps. Also think that it might end up making the mix come out sounding strange if the clear is the only thing you had
Fedex is ass
Man, that sucks.
I wish more places would let you arrange the courier yourself. There are a few places that are ok with it if you contact them, but theyāre few and far between.
How does the Clear compare to the Arya?
Iāll let you know on Tuesday.
Since you have the elex, just imagine a more impressive but more neutral elex
Does it have more detail?
Yes, also a more neutral signature, and more impressive sense of space. Tad less dynamics but the trade off is worth imo. Although this is only the case with using a higher end amp
Iāve been wondering why Ant hasnāt bought the Clears already tbh since heās always saying he loves detail lol
I mean itās not worth it unless you are willing to drop on the higher tier amp, so you also have to account for that in the cost
Iām thinking about it lol
