šŸ”¶ Focal Clear

Yeah I got it charging now. The cable you suggested me came too. This thing is PACKED. Small but heavy

Yup, it is a solid unit lol

Do you know of a guide out there on how to use it?

Here is the chord manual for the mojo

Note 1: Now that I’ve read the instructions I’m a big fan of the controls. (Input to get line out, etc)

Note 2: Whatever is going on with people having issues with their m15s not organizing their tracks properly suddenly became an issue with my m6. I think it’s a software issue with the music app. Never had this issue before, and suddenly no artist names are appearing.

Note 3: I have the mojo connected to the coax cable, and then that same cable connected to the m6, then I’m plugging my headphones into the mojo. Got fiio set to line out. Still can’t get anything to play through the headphones.

Ah crap I think I need a different cable. USB-c to micro usb

The fiio should have usb audio out turned on? This cable legit worked on my m11 so idk why it wouldn’t work on the m6. I guess you would need the CL06 if it refuses to work

I think it might be different with the m6. There’s no setting for USB audio out. Only Line out and phone out.

I think when I used the mojo at the headphone store I was using a USBC to micro USB cable

Is it in the fiio music app for something like usb mode or exclusive mode? If not, then just send the cable back and get the cl06 because fiio is going to be dumb I guess

Yeah I got nothing. That sucks. lol

Oh well it is what it is. I’m ordering the cable now.

I mean there is a USB out function in the music app, but it makes no difference what I set it to.

For now, I would just run the mojo from a PC if you can, and see if you like the sound. Dang I wonder what they changed on the m6

ABing between the m6 by itself and my PC with the mojo running on my pc. Both using Qobuz. I’d say the difference is little to none from what I can tell so far…I think maybe I just agree with Zeos o.O

I think for me I like the Elex more than the Clear.

I hear that ā€œWā€ I like it a lot.

Lossless correct? Give it time lol

I’ll give it some more time for sure. I have to stop though, because I’m probably murdering the longevity of this mojo by running it with such a low charge. Will be back for more later!

Once you spend a fair bit of time using the mojo with the clear, and go back to the m6 you might be surprised, but who knows lol

Main thing is the staging is still just not what it was with the Elex for me. I hear less separation and less space…which is what the man in question said…lol

in a way have been using this to see how my ears compare to other reviewers and people in the community, because this is a particular subject that people have polar opposite opinions about.

When I compared the Elex and Clears on the SP200 originally, I had a similar experience. On the SPL amp, things reversed… and the imaging on the Clears sounds a lot more 3 dimensional and separated compared to the Elex… and it’s an obvious difference, not subtle (The Elex still maintains the more ā€˜w’ shaped sound). The Clears just really need a good amp to get the best out of them, IMO.

I think the reason being, the main design advantage and change to the Clear is the new material used for the driver, which gives it much better potential to react to changes in the sound faster. But the Elex itself is no slouch, so I think it’s generally able to keep up with the Clear when the amp is acting as a bottleneck. But as you upgrade amps, which also do better with speed and separation, which IMO don’t really start until RNHP-levels, then become really obvious with something like the SPL. That’s been my experience.

I think the mojo would be a close alternative to the rnhp for a portable (in the price bracket), so that was my thinking in recommending the mojo, there should be significant difference with the mojo over the m6. I think you would have to spend on like a woo wa11 topaz or something if you wanted something closer to the spl in performance for a portable. The mojo is still a great portable for the price, lots of performance in that thing

I have not heard either the m6 or mojo… but… my thinking is that you might need some experience hearing the obvious differences an amp can make in terms of speed/delineation before it’ll click with your brain and you can pick it out when it’s less obvious. Because it’s not the same as dynamics/compression or frequency response, or noise/distortion… which are the things my brain was more in tune with until I heard something like the SPL. It was definitely there enough with the RNHP, but it wasn’t big enough to be identifiable… it was more like ā€œOh… there is something going on hereā€ā€¦ but even then it felt hard to ā€˜quantify’. Then even with the SPL, it really threw me off at first… and it took me at least a few hours to figure out what was making such a (!)relatively(!) drastic difference to the perceived sound-stage, imaging, and detail.

It’s like, if you’ve never really perceived something before, your brain might just ignore it… it’s like hearing the difference dynamics can actually make for the first time with something like the Elex… once you hear it… then your brain has a better point of reference…

I’m completely just making this up… and theorizing… feel free to take it with a grain of salt. Lol

Pretty much yeah, for most people they don’t really notice a significant difference at first, but after extended use, they switch back to not having one and then figure out what they were missing

I’m at the point where it’s somewhat immediate, but I don’t think I would be this way without experience. That click thing you said is fairly accurate for most people
