šŸ”· Focal Elegia

I know, right?! From a company that does this for a living!

I shall heed your advice, Sir. It will go in the trash tonight.

Or I will tie up the gate with it!

Cold solder joints can work in fascinating ways, yep.

Ah that totally makes sense! I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever managed a cold solder joint, usually if I donā€™t solder correctly it just doesnā€™t make a connection.

I have the same short cable.

Especial cue as a Studio Headphone:

They got the version with the ā€œonly 50% shittyā€ cable lol.

Love Mr. And Mrs. Patreon

HA! Nice to see the Elegiaā€™s in action. She wears them well, although I canā€™t believe she is using that janky ass cable! Catchy tune, btw. I like the bass line, and the sax player stands out for sure.

I just had another epic evening session with the Elegias last night. These are really sounding good with the BF2 > SA-1 combo. I canā€™t figure out if I like this pairing or using them straight out of the TA-20 best; they are both pretty darned good. I see hours and hours of listening ahead to make that determination!

I also got them from Amazon Germany and Iā€™m glad other people have gotten the black cableā€¦I was worried for a minute!

Original pads on my Elegia wear down after about 1 year and I decided to take a risk and get the Dekoni Elite Sheepskin (solid) for them. Couldnā€™t be happier, they got a small bass boost that add to the Focal Slam. They also upped the isolation a tiny bit more. The clamping force did get a little higher, but the overall improvement is totally worth it for me.

At $89 can seem steep, but if you liked the Elegias give these pads a try. Or maybe wait for a b-stock, got mine for almost half the price. I donā€™t know how but Iā€™m in love all over again with these headphones.

Edit: grammar, sorry.

Finally placed my order. They have been on sale at Adorama for a few days at $379.00!!

Looking forward to these. :+1:

If you donā€™t have one already, get a dual 3.5mm cable to avoid focal shity cables. Also can recommend the Dekoni Sheepskin if you want a little more bass.

I was fortunate to have a Hart one ready to go from a different headphone; the one it comes with is so janky lol

I use the Hart cable system, but I might have to get a second 3.5mm cable as it stays pretty busy.

Havenā€™t thought about other pads yet, but I will keep your suggestion in mind.

If you own a pair of Elex, is it worth it to buy the Elegia? Looking to get a nice pair of closed back headphones.

I did because I like the Focal sound.

Put these on for a bit on Wednesday. Didnā€™t care for them much at all.

On Thursday they sounded better. Still kind of veiled though. Like there was a filter between the drivers and my ears.

Today they sounded much better. Is it burn in? I donā€™t believe in physical burn-in, but I am a big believer in brain burn-in. Especially since I was going from a very, IMO, technical, precise headphone in the LSA HP-2ā€™s to the less precise Elegiaā€™s.

But now I am Really into these. I will run them straight for another day or two and then start doing a comparison. I want to compare them to the Beyer T5ā€™s and decide which is better. One will become my mobile solution.

I will test first in my system for a day or two and then a day or two off my LG V30 and my Sony DAP (NW-ZX300).

Everything thatā€™s mechanical and subject to movement/flexing/etc. is going to change. Including your joints
